Summer '09 has arrived...
and it's gonna get warm.

Apparently us poor bastards in Melbourne [Australia] are in for the hottest stretch of days in 100 years... [bit tough for the Oz Open [tennis], too]....
Today it'll be 38...
Tomorrow [Wednesday] 41
Then 40, 40, 40, 30, 30.
Yes, that's centigrade....for those still in the dark ages that's [C x 9/5] + 32 = Fahrenheit....![]()

I'm sitting here in Toronto,Canada and the temperature is -13C with a wind chill of -20C.
Sure could use some of that heat!

Heat I can deal with.....cold, not so much. I dread those 30 to 40 days of winter we have every year. It seems like you have to put life on hold until the warm air moves back in......
Sydney, that's sounds like good weather.......grew up breathing between 60-100%+ water and I can't live without it.
For those of you dealing with the heat and no or little humidity....my condolences ![]()

23.37 ....day 1 of the heat ....still not King. [LOTR joke]
Darn intercoolers on Turbos....normally shut down in less than 3 minutes....today....more like 8. [I have one of those battery packs for jump-starting...cos the other day the battery was dead].
Tennis brats are hissy-fitting all over the place....it's hit and miss whether a match ends or defaults cos someone broke into a sweat.
Tomorrow [Wednesday] is supposed to be the hottest.....Wed night will have a low of 26....

I love springs... I remember those days of spring when I used to wander in colony streets in search of......

Well, it's 8.30 am here, and it's not as humid as it was here yesterday this time, and it's meant to hit 40 today.. I surely hope not

Day 2 of the heatwave.....
Got to 43.4 [that's 110.1] today at 9% humidity.....should get "down" to 29 [84.2] tonight...
Gonna be 43 tomorrow....
Spare a thought for those poor sods in Adelaide.... today was 45.6 [114].

While y'all are sweating your off, on the other side of the globe we are up to ours in snow and freezing rain.
Yeah, we're not screwing up the climate at all.

Day 3 ....still not King...
It's nice being told one more day of it and it's a record hottest stretch of temp ever in Melbourne....
Got to 44.3 ...that's 111.7.
I'm not doing any work...the office end of my house has no A/C ....and drawing trace is heat sensitive [as is all paper] so if it's dimensionally unstable I draw 10 squares now it'll be 8 when temps get more 'nomal' [almost, not really].
Am monitoring comp heats...47cpu 44case ....not too bad [side of case is off].
Thursday night will likely be the hottest ever....haven't heard yet...but sure felt like it.

Heh, just go with that, Jafo. It sounds believable enough. ![]()
While I enjoy the heat, I feel for all the Melbournians. You guys just aren't used to extreme temps. ![]()
It's little better here though, but then again I'm in an air-conditioned office building wearing a light jacket because I'm a little chilly. ![]()

CHET, Melbourne is usually TEH coldest place
Jafo is experiencing some weird ass, side effect ozone thingo, ice-age-sun-age

in Winter.....yes....
...Melbourne has great summers...when they kick in.....can sometimes be chilly up until Christmas...but Jan/Feb....lovely hot northerly winds.....
though not good for bushfires....
nah....Melboure & Adelaide have always had some Summers with really high temps....my Mum was brought up in Adelaide...and tells of the high temps growing up....and the stinking heat... and she's 92.... while I'm sure we humans are having some effect....it's hard to tell what is a natural evolution of conditions....and what is created....all we can do is try and clean up our act, and the faster the better....and leave the rest to mother nature...climate change...is natural as well....

Tailsgirl....our [Melbourne} maximums are higher than Sydney....when it gets hot it gets hot.
Hobart is the coldest....and Adelaide is the hottest capital.
Brisbane just 'blows'....and Perth doesn't count ....![]()

Don't hog all the global warming.
It's -12C outside and I'll take every degree I can get. I miss the Mohave Desert.
I'm a desert rat at heart so these IL winters are the pits.
