I don't know if anyone here looks at the Giveaway of the day website. Today they have a program called
Curvy 3D 1.5
Aartform Curvy 3D is an easy and fast sculpting program for Windows. Rapidly sketch natural forms direct to 3D. Ideal for non-technical Artists. If you can sketch and paint you can use Curvy as a simple introduction to 3D modelling software.
The program is normaly a $85 program!

Oh, it sounded so good, until I read all the reviews, most people only get a black screen when it boots

I saw it this morning. The comments are very enticing. A lot of folks complained heavily about the user interface or lack of one and the software website's last screnshot was posted in 2004. I'd love to try it, but not sure I wanna go through all the trouble of installing it if it's crap.

Yea I caught the Curvy 3D today. I can't see a whole lot of use for it though. I use 3D modeling programs quite often but I found this on hard to control. I thought it might be a simple tool to use with the programs that I already have. I do use Blender ever so often. You should check out Daz 3D. it is smiler to the Poser program and it is free with membership. I have purchased a membership there as I tend to spend money on models quite often so the saving are rather large at Daz. The main Characters base models are free.

There are so many sites to see in the world of 3D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try out the Daz Studio from Daz Tailsgirl. Poser is a little on the high side now, I think in the range of $500.00 for the newest version.I think you can get the 7 version for around $249.00 at Smith Micro well I should say Content Paradise.

Daz Studio is still free and imports the same as Poser. They will work together.

I don't have Poser anymore, and Daz isn't really free, you have to pay a fair bit to get the actual models, from what I saw.. it looked wicked too! but the free download doesn't come with much to work with I don't think
does it? because if it does, I'd try it ![]()
Edit.. OUCH, they want $7 for a 3D shoe?![]()
Tailsgirl thanks you, but I will have to pass![]()

No you don't have to pay for Daz Studio. You get the base models for free but you do have to purchase the morphs for it if you want them. I can send you a list of links to free stuff that you would not believe. It cost me $69.00 a year for Platinum club prices after the initial membership cost. But if you are into 3D modeling as I am it is well worth the price. But you do not have to purchase Daz Studio.Yes some of the prices are high so do like I do just don't buy.You don't have to purchase anything to use the program. You won't see the price change for Platinum club members I guess unless you are one. But there are several sites that have free models all the time if you just want to see if you are interested in that type of work without spending your hard earned. I spent two years on it before Daz came out and never spent a dime. But I learned to pass off some great times 3D work and now teaching and helping my sister improve her skills.

What are the 'morphs'? is it something you need to have, before you can actually export? ![]()
PS.. Thanks for all the info too![]()
Reply #17 Saturday, January 17, 2009 6:59 AM
No you don't have to have the morphs to export anything but Daz dose export in OBJ format wich is most commen other then 3D. They are used for variations in the figure and some products do not work without them. But they are not necessary for exporting. The morphs are to enhance the looks of the character that you are working with. There are several hundred characters out there. Most of the character products have a base figure that they work from. But there are many objects to work with also like trees, buildings,Land ect.... And you are most welcome!
