is theme manager still broken?
Thursday, January 15, 2009 by MichaelG04 | Discussion: Theme Manager
just wondering, i can't get it to work, it never applies a full theme. yes, i see many posts on this, i'm just wondering when it's going to be fixed, or even if it's going to be fixed?

well, it does, but like several posts on this forum, it doesn't apply all aspects of the suite like it's suppose to. and i haven't seen any updates in a few months, so wondering, is it getting fixed?

for instance, just applied the flash system suite, no widgetes were loaded, all selected, WB didn't load, cursor FX didn't load, just the wallpaper
it varies between suites, but i haven't found 1 yet that actually fully works

ok, now the second time i applied it, it worked, except for the widgets

Having said that; knowing what suite you tried to apply, what it ws supposed to skin, and what it didn't might help.

I have the same problem. Apply a Suite, WB didn't load, cursorFX didn't load, just the wallpaper and the icons. The box "I want to see advance option" is checked. The second time i applied it, it doesn't worked. What can i do? Please excused, my english is very bad.

nothing can be done, these are known bugs, although no updates since november has me a bit worried, i know it will come eventually

"is theme manager still broken" is a difficult question to answer, much like "are you still beating your wife". Whether you say 'yes' or 'no' you are still making an admission: "yes - I am still beating my wife" or "no - I am no longer beating my wife"
So "yes - Theme Manager is still broken" or "no - Theme Manager is no longer broken". What do you answer if you have never beaten your wife or Theme Manager was never broken?
Thus endeth your logic lesson for today

There are somethings with Theme Manager that you need to walk through slowly.
First, make sure you open the Settings Tab in Theme Manager and the box under General Setting in checked.
When you select apply the skin make sure in the next window that comes up that the boxes are marked for the skins you want to download and apply.
Don't try to download something that is for XP on a Vista system. Make sure that you have the approprite programs loaded to be able to apply the skins, ie you need DesktopX loaded to apply DX Widgets etc.
Most newer WBs have substyles for XP and Vista. If it looks like the WB didn't apply corretly open WB configuration and see if there is a substyle.
There are some bugs in Theme Manager that will/are being worked on and it will get updated.
I seem to be it right now for uploading Suites for Theme Manager so post a thread in the WC Forums and I will try to help as much as I can. ![]()

well, we all know it doesn't apply all things everytime, and it's not consistent. there are bugs, they are admitted, so why are people trying to say that it works fine? i don't get that. it is broken, it's being fixed, what so hard to understand? it's not a big deal

Quoting MichaelG04, reply 10except that it's clearly brokenThere is a know issue that is being addressed. There is a work-around for it.

It's kind of like Fight Club, isn't it? It's "not broken", but there is "a know issue" that is being "addressed" for which there is a "work around" but there is no followup post as to just what this mystery workaround might be.
My personal workaround to the "not broken" yet "known issued" Theme Manager is to not use it, and just install the individual parts of the theme myself and forego the use of Theme Manager all together, because that's the only way to set up my desktop with the individual parts anyway.![]()

TM does not show any logons I have installed on the applications tab only the default Vista. When I click settings it will launch Logon Studio Vista, but applying a logon that way turns my screen black.I do get the logon panel, just no other image. It still will not apply WB's with any sort of predictability either. I'll wait, too buggy for me.
Logons do apply as they should using LSV by itself.

Open Theme Manager 3.0. Click on settings and make sure the box is check that says I want to see advance options. Now try to install a TM suite. It should give you a drop down window listing the skins included in the suite.
