Objectdock Plus Tab centering of Icons

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 by headkase | Discussion: ObjectDock

I just bought Objectdock Plus today and am quite happy with it.  There is a feature I would like to see (and doh if it is already in there somewhere) and that is centering the icons within each tab grouping.  Having them all left justified just doesn't look as nice to me.  Also along with center, right and the default justifies would round it out and maybe even kerning (evenly space them in the alloted area) too.

Also, I'm on 1.9 - when 2.0 comes out will I have to repurchase or will Impulse just magically give me the new bits?

Thank you.

Can't be done. You can try making a transparent and using that though. Or just get used to it.

Excellent sugestion.

If I remember correctly, I do believe you get a full year worth of upgrades when you purchase a stand alone app, with Impulse installed.

Those are good suggestions.  Post them here: https://forums.wincustomize.com/167382

@messiah1: I didn't add a reply to your thread as the first reply says my post as well.

But additionally, a nice feature would be justification for the docks themselves.  It would be nice to center a tabbed-dock on the edge it was docked to.  Right now I'm eye-balling it, having it exact would be sweet.

And of course, doh if it already does it.

It doesn't, but I know others have said the same thing.  I myself would like that feature.  I'm not going to check but I think that is in the other thread...

Ya, you get it.  That and centering the icons on the dock itself.

I agree, it would be great to be able to center the icons - and to be able to adjust the transparency.

Just occured to me that when docked to an edge if you center both the tab headings and center the icons then it would be a cinch to have each tab have a variable width.  The location of the tab headings would remain at their respective locations while switching to a different tab so there would not be a jarring effect.

At least thats the theory.

What about having the contents automatically resize the dock length according to the amount of Icons? Then you won't have all that extra space making it look stupid. Then also, if there becomes too many icons, you can specify, say after 10 icons, either create a new row or put in the left/right buttons...

what would be sweet is that if there's too many icons to be displayed and you need a left and right button... why not make it so that when you hover over towards the left the icons automatically move to the right (and same in reverse)... kind of like in Flash with scrollable thumbnails across the bottom...  it would save a few clicks...

All good.  See link in reply # 3.  That has become a container for suggestions and I know the OD developer checks that thread.
