Aww c'mon it's a damn good beer, well, as good as it gets, Fosters was cool, Pilsner = EEK, though Dad loved it, KB aka KIDS BEER blows, VB SUCKS! and Sydney Bitter was THE best [over 5% alcohol, Dad and I went through a LOT of it] then they took it off the market the bastards ![]()

Will do... and mrs starkers said she'll do the catering for the 'reception'. Oh, and she wants to know how everybody has their curried cabbage. Now that could be a lethal concoction... Tooheys Red and curried cabbage together. ![]()

Cool, my uncle always made his batter for fish that way and it is awesome.
Harry Ramsden fish shops make it too and available in their freezer range too.

I gave up drinking 7 years ago... but this Xmas I'm going to have a few shandies with a bit of XXXX in 'em. Too damned hot for Tetleys... so shandy it is. But yeah, I always loved my beer... a little too much sometimes, and I'd go through a carton of 30 x 375 ml cans a night to myself... and still be able to walk a straight line. However, the cost became prohibitive and I had to quit so that we could afford things like PC's and etc.

Victoria used to have a soft drink called 6 o'clock lager - a beer shandy flavour but able to be sold to kids. Back then pubs closed at 6 pm, way back in the 60s.

Yup...shandies!! It's a case of not wanting to get back into it again... I'll have a few shandies over the holidays and then I'll stop 'til next Xmas. I suppose this year is a bit different in that we have my daughter and her partner staying with us, and they like to have a few beers so I'm doing it to be sociable as well as quench my thirst... we've been having some pretty hot days lately and they'll go down a treat, as compared to cups of tea.
