Latest Working Version of ObjectDock Plus?
Sunday, December 21, 2008 by J-Mac | Discussion: ObjectDock
Hello all.
I hope the topic name doesn’t sound too dumb! I have used ObjectDock Plus for about 5 years now, through all the versions. Till now, all were updated through SDC. I dropped my OD Ultimate subscription for a year and now have re-subscribed and installed Impulse. My Impulse Update tab shows an update available for ObjectDock Plus: I'm currently using 1.90 Build 535u and Impulse says that 1.90.033 is available.
However when I browse the forum here I see a lot of members posting about ObjectDock Plus having stopped working altogether, and it appears that either a recent version or beta version had problems and the fix is still in the air for now. All that is fine, and my current ObjectDock Plus seems to be working just fine - of course I am not using any docklets at all; just program launching. Reading through the ObjectDock Plus forum here doesn’t quite clarify exactly which version broke and which is the latest stable version.
My question: Is the version available for update on Impulse - 1.90.033 - stable and working? Or is that the version that seemed to break for many members? If there's no good answer then I'll just stick with what I have for now.
I appreciate any advice. Thanks!
Jim

Zubaz, Jim wasn't asking about Impulse versions. He was, and is, asking about ObjectDock Plus versions. He mentions that Impulse is telling him that there is a new version of ObjectDock Plus, as compared to what is installed on his system, available. He then asks about the stability of this OD+ version and whether he should update to it or not. Please make sure you read and understand someone's post before you respond to. It seems to me you glanced through the guys post and answered what you assumed he was asking.
Now to Jim's questions. I'm afraid I can't vouch for which version Jim should use, except to say that I'm using v1.90 Build 535u myself and it seems pretty stable and reliable on my Vista 32bit SP1 system. A comment on the verrsion numbers Jim mentions, I would have thought that version 1.90.033 was 'older' than version 1.90.535 (the last three digits usually denote the Build number I believe).
I would advise the old adage of "If its not broke, don't change it!" So Jim I suggest you stay with what you have for now and ignore what Impluse is telling you.
HTH,
Jonathan.

I'am using 190.537 and its fine. Was using an older version and didn't have any problems with it and I'am on Vista Ultimate, sp1. Both worked fine on that.(32bit).

I believe Zubaz was referring to the weather function in the latest beta version of Object Dock available through Impulse. I believe that Object Dock version is different than the Object Dock version available through SDC.
Probably applies here.

The final 3 digits of the version number may not be the same between SDC, Impulse, & the apps about screen. I would pretend they do not exist.

There are reported issues with the weeather in the latest Impulse beta build. Stick with SDC for the moment.
