PartyGras
I think I'm getting sick already
Wednesday, December 17, 2008 by k10w3 | Discussion: Sneak Previews
I haven't slept in two days. I think I may have gone overboard with the embelishments. Obviously, I'm going to need to refine this thing and I'm glad I gave myself a good three months when I started it to experiment with it.
Keeping in mind that Mardi Gras is all about excess, and getting it out of your system - here is what I have so far. The window frames are meant to resemble the balconies of New Orleans - wrought iron filigrees against brick. The progress bar consists of drapes of beads with a glyph of a Venetian mask. I've kept with the standard Mardi Gras colors (purple, green and gold).
This is my second Windowblind. I would appreciate any comments and suggestions.

Id suggest a more uniform color scheme, sorta looks like two diff themes with the green in some parts and purple in others.. perhaps try to intermingle it some.
I would also keep the file , edit menu's a bit cleaner, right now its hard to read the text,
Start button is a neat idea ![]()
Party on!
Keep on skinning ! ![]()

Thank you. I appreciate the advice, and although it's a cute idea, I know you're right. The frames are going to have to go.

Keep on keepin' on, girl. Big smiles here. Glad you're being so creative!
Agree with mixing the colors, but you have to blend the 'please me please you' and decide which way you want to go.
Doc waves Hi to Karen and says "Good on ya!"

I'm pretty sure this is finished (or I've gone as far as I can go on my own and need someone to suggest some improvements). I even made a wallpaper to look like the balconies in New Orleans.

If somebody would be so kind and be a beta tester for me, the WBA file can be dowloaded here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mgxo2zeqjwi

You are doing a fine job there karen, it's coming along nicely.
I have few suggestions for you to start.
The toolbar button margins are set to 1. These need to be increased to avoid stretching the button border. I used 5 and that worked.
The image you are using for the statusbar makes the statusbar text unreadable. Perhaps make the centre stripe wider?
The start menu username text is cut off. May be an idea to get rid of it altogether.
The difference in the tabs text size is a bit disconcerting. You might also like to include images for the tab border and background area image too. At the moment the tabs just hang in space.
There will be lots more to do! I noticed a few other things which need a little attention. That always happens on your first skin until you get used to where everything is. I'm more than willing to help you as much as I can.
Now you are into skinning, it will never let you go!

Thanks, Fuzzy. I knew I had a little "cleaning up" but just didn't know exactly where or how. I appreciate your suggestions.
