How did you pick your screen name

Sunday, December 7, 2008 by Brysgirl | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I was looking at some submissions for the GUI's when I thought to myself, "What made them think of that screen name?"From that thought and many like it, I decided to start this thread to enlighten others who might be asking themselves the same question.

So, if you could please share with the community how you chose your screen name, it would be greatly appreciated!

I'll start, My husband's name is Brian so, inevitably I am Brysgirl!(I'm sure the science behind that was mind-boggling)

So he's yelling "ZUBAZ!!" and I happen to walk into the warehouse and say "what's up?" or some such thing. Thus I was tagged in meatspace.

Absolutely hilarious! Something my brother would have done!

Mine came to me because I love the Weather. When I was a teen everyone would ask me what the weather would be. I guess I was better at predicting the weather than the weatherman.

Bound came in because I am Bound to the weather. Does not matter where i am. I will always be watching and trying to predict the weather.

mine is the original name that WarnerBros came up for with Kim Novak but it has a slight twist..they wanted to call her "kit marlow".....so i tweaked it to kitty malone, as im a huge novak fan..and i thought the name was pretty neat.  but nowdays id rather be crazyhorse.

Mine is from way back in the bad ol' corporate days.  When the company first computerized it's subsidiaries that's what I got stuck with for corp email.  Had it for so many years I just decided to port it over for personal use (since it's long since been embedded in my memory) and ended up with it here.

Not very creative I guess, but at my age you shouldn't expect too much  - old dogs and all that...

the st is the first two letters of my surname... the ark is the last three letters of my first name... making stark, sort of like a spoonerism of sorts. The ers got tacked on by my first wife after an incident involving our cat whining at the front door shortly after I'd gotten into bed, me being instructed to find out what was wrong with it and then having her shut the door behind me, turning on the entry light and highlighting to the entire neighbourhood that I was stark bollock naked and holding a whining cat.

Hmmm, would have looked rather suspicious to anyone who mave have happened to be looking out their window right about then, but thankfully none of the neighbours commented so I concluded that none of them had seen a thing.

One can look back in retrospect and say; "I should have put some pants on", but at the timel, I just wanted quickly to bring the cat in - after all, it was dark outside, and nobody was going to see anything - check to see if was hurt or something, put it back out and get back to bed.  I mean, how was I to know she was going to creep down the hallway behind me, slam the door shut and giggle like all buggery when she turned on that confounded light.

So, starkers it was, and pretty much has been ever since.

Picking up an upset cat while pantless can be very hazardous, you are lucky to still be singing in the same choir section if you know what I mean.

The cat wouldn't have dared... not if he wanted to keep his love marbles... and I'm sure that cat understood every word I ewer said to it.  I'd only have to threaten: "Do you wanna go see the vet for a cut and tuck tommorow?" and he'd instantly behave.

Nah, he was just a fairly placcid cat with a great temperament and responded well when spoken to... however, he was hurt and that's why he was whining.

I can't remember the name of it off-hand, but there was a similar thread where we had a bit of fun with this before, and yeah, there were similar comments regarding claws and singing soprano, as I recall.

Many years ago my friend started a web page called Dark-Z.com , he asked me to make the graphics for the site. That was one of my first works. I decided then to call myself Pixel-Z. Today the Dark-Z.com site is no more active.

My real name is Karen Lowe, so I spelled out my first initial and last name in Leet - k10w3 (k lowe).

Wow, I grew up knowing a Karen Lowe.....not from Bristol, TN. are ya? Brothers named Terry and Jaime?

Nope, I'm from Wisconsin.  There are a lot of Karen Lowes in the world.  Plus, I only became Karen Lowe eight years ago when I married my present husband.   My maiden name is Kwekkeboom (pronounced queck-a-boom), and yeah...life got a little easier on me when it comes to introducing myself after I got married.
