I think I am going backwards
instead of forwards

When it comes to my works. Not sure what I am missing when it comes to my walls, but my stars are getting smaller. A three, I can live with, it means that the public gets to see what I have created. But lately, the have been 2 1/2 or lower, and only seen on my personal page. I am asking you, the community, to please take a gander, and critique my work. I take constructive criticism very well. I want to be the best I can be, but without imput, I am at a loss....Here is my site. Thanks for your time.

I think your walls are artistic enough . . but I personally don't want art on my wall. I don't believe that walls ARE art. They are background.
I want to be able to get to my icons quickly. The one that does that for me in your collection is Light. The other would destract too much.

Thanks for the link Zu....but I got it to work the second time through....lol ![]()
And there in lies the issue....Light is one of my lower ranked walls.....I too love it for its simplicity, but no one else seems to. I am not getting it.

Immy, they look fine to me. Not all my own personal (and weird) taste. You just might be up against tougher judging, or someone who's looking for something else...
You have to be satisfied for yourself first and foremost. RobGuy (the Hulk) wrote something really excellent about this, and I've lost the the post somehow (Hey Zubaz...please help me here...you come up with the right thread all the time{well, mostly, anyway}).
The gist of what he wrote was you skin for youself...your pleasure (and if it ever becomes burdensome...then you ain't doin' it right) and if others like it, cool. If not, meh...it's for YOU, not them. It's YOUR art and critics/supporters do their own thing.
I like your walls just fine...especially the blue bamboo one. I think it should have been rated 'higher' but who cares about the rating. It's about your feelings and expression, no none else's.
Hope this helps, Immy.

I get your meaning, Doc...what I should say, is that I am looking to improve. And for me, improvement means to go forward, not backwards...lol. I take Zubaz's comment to heart, mainly because I prefer a more simple background....though, every-so-often I get bitten by the artsy bug...lol.

Not many downloaders take time to rate the skins they use. If someone gives you a 1 or a 5 that can make a big differentance on the rating. Check the rating on Light now, see what I mean?

Ah, but I thrive on advice...it helps me grow, when I feel stagnant. Go figure!

Not meant as specific criticism, but in general I know what I look at.........how does it work as wallpaper.........can I easily find things on my desktop or will the wall tend to "hide" things. I personally don't use walls with text, but in modding I look for it to "add" something to the wall and not overpower it. Then there are just quality issues like jaggies, focus, perspective, lighting etc. I can't support a 3D wall where the light angle is inconsistent or where distances aren't correctly represented. Some things (like fractals, water scenes & terragens) are "done to death" so to avoid the Personal Pages they need to be fairly outstanding.

Yes,about not wanting to sound negative is true The MasterBaron. But also I happen to believe there is no bad or mediocre art. Just a whole lot of different tastes. Just because I don't like something doesn't mean someone else won't turn around and spend mucho dinero on it. I strongly believe art is expression. And I just can't find anything wrong with that. Sorry ImStein, but have you ever given thought to maybe your right where your suppose to be?

My advice would be to keep plugging away, i made billions of things before I started getting noticed years back, also, I'd recommend starting with a widescreen and cropping down the other resolutions, many people have WS thesedays, all in all your walls aren't bad, I quite like the bamboo one, keep at it and enjoy.

If I may..
You're getting some good advice as far as to keep plugging away, keep trying. You're walls aren't 'bad'. I don't see 'you' yet. I just see some wallpapers. I believe that as you keep trying you'll fall into your nitch as you develop the style that works for you and best shows what you want to express. That's when it will click, happen, or fall into place for you.
Even when you find your groove, you may not get the ratings you want..that's when you have to be able to do it for 'you' and because you love to do it. But there will be folks who 'get what you're doing' or just like your style. It's the comments they leave that will make up for everything else.
Now if you want some comments, for what hey are worth coming from the likes of me....
Season's Greetings - Lose the 'fuzzy' border..bolder glassier text or No text at all
Storm Tossed - off kilter, makes me wanna toss
Broken Light- - I think the drop between this and light is self explanatory - too much. It was fine the way it was in Light.
Undefined - I like it
Blue Bamboo - I like it
Eye of The Storm - for me..very Bryce and I'm not big on Bryce. That moon is bugging me to.
Not Me - Were you going for the 'Primitive' look? Close, but very grainy. I think you were on to something here. I like the 'attempt' but not the end result.
High Lake Sunset - Nice, but for the water (IMHO) What do you work with? If PS, I might have toned down the ripples or hit it with a Smart Blur (+3, +24) I like the colors and it all blends well. (Better than Eye of The Storm)
Well, hope I haven't pissed you off or anything. I look forward to seeing more work from you and watching you develop. ![]()

Thanks everyone.....this is what I like to hear.
PO...some of the walls you brought up are ancient art....High Lakes was my first Terragen...I was surprised that it was approved...lol. Not me was just to be fun, a Terragen/PhotoImpact render. Eye of the Storm, again Terragen/PhotoImpact/PictureIt..and you are right, the moon drives me nuts too....ah, but that was 4 years ago. Hee Hee...the others are this year, and you are right, now I am just finding my niche....it will happen. C'est la vive
