looking to team up with a good skinner !!

have an amazing idea thats beyond my skills

Wednesday, November 26, 2008 by bennynike | Discussion: Skinning

Over the last year i have seen some amazing skins and they made me come up with a few ideas myself. if i were to do these they probably would not look so good as lets say a master would do. so i am proposing to give some of my ideas with proper explenation and some pictures of the texture to use. if a skinner thinks he is good enough to make this work he's welcome to do this. my email is nike1me@yahoo.com if anyone is interested

not being a skinner my, might I suggest that you look through the Gallery Library for WindowBlinds (I'm taking that the type of skin you are talking about).  Find some WB skins that you like and then PM the skinners to see if they would like to collobrate with you.

It's not unusual for that to happen, in fact it happens quite often.  Give it a try, it couldn't hurt.

bennynike - I want to encourage you to at least try to skin your ideas.  The tutorials here are awesome, and if you just walk through them, step by step, maybe with a mediocre idea to start with so you don't feel like you've "wasted" your best idea, you'll end up with more control in which direction to go with your ideas.  There is a REASON that you have good ideas...it's because inside you're a skinner, and you just need the skills to put those ideas into a skin!  Just because you're first skin more than likely won't be a masterpiece, doesn't mean that you should rely on master's to use your ideas.  If you don't at least try first yourself before seeking someone else to do it for you, you'll never know the thrill of doing it youself, of knowing the how and why of what goes into a skin, instead of just the finished projection.  By learning to skin yourself, your ideas will get bigging and better!

I'm a baby-skinner myself right now, working on my second Windowblind, but it feels SO AWESOME to actually create the thing in my head and apply it to my computer, and see what unfolds!  You just HAVE to try.  The skinners here are really good with helping out on problems that arise, and giving their expert input when you ask for help.  The skinning community grows when those of use who are noobs learn from the experts, rather than get them to create our project for us.
