I'm trying to upload a zipped bootskin with a permission
included and it won't except the zip - is bootskin not set-up
yet to take a zip just .bootskin only ?

If Vista boots are anything like XP boots....they are renamed zip archives anyway.
Rename the suffix to 'zip'...add the text file...and rename to 'bootskin' ...![]()

i think i understand ..
I renamed the zip file to ... zip.bootskin and tried to upload again - it failed
when it uploaded the file read .. zip.bootskin.zip
with this message ...
the skin file your attempting to upload
is not a valid file - check the file extension ..
what did i do wrong ?

Everything...![]()
make a bootskin...
it'll be "skinname.bootskin"
change the suffix to 'zip'...so it is now "skinname.zip"
add the text file to the zip
rename the zip to "skinname.bootskin"
Re-upload.

tried that it didn't work
when i renamed bootskin to zip
it said a
wrong file type and that zip
wouldn't let me add the text file ..
i'm really lost here ....
don't understand much about coding and such ...
logons let you add the logon and text to a zip
no problem and upload - i never made or did anything
with Xp bootskins - so i don't know the in's and out's of it......
what to do next ? ... sorry for not understanding fully - what or how to do this ... az

what about - is it ok to include a screenshot of the permission
say in the corner of the preview pic. ? dont know if it would be
big enough to read though ??

I don't think the new file format is a zip (renamed). Checking.
Reply #11 Monday, November 24, 2008 11:34 AM
OK .. here is the deal.
The gallery form does not allow for the upload of a zip containing the skin and the permission text.
And the Bootskin Pro file format does not allow for permissions to be added to it.
I'll poke the powers that be to have the form changed to allow for zips (skin + permission).

You can upload .zips to the gallery now. Lets just make note that upload to that gallery must be of an original creation, or permission must be included.
