New Vista Bootskins Gallery

XP gallery is still there

Thursday, November 20, 2008 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize News

With yesterdays big release of Object Desktop 2009 came a few new and updated applications.  One of which is the long awaited BootSkin Pro which enables you to skin your Windows Vista boot screen.  Users of BootSkin Pro will be able to create bootskins which can then be uploaded to the new BootSkin gallery here on WinCustomize.

Check out the new Bootskin gallery here.

BootSkins for Windows XP are still there, it’s just called BootSkin XP now.

Stardock Design and several users have already started uploading Vista bootskins, so head over there and check them out.  Here are a few highlights.

I uploaded my most popular walls as boots.  (Although, admitatlly, my "most popular" are some of the real artist's around here least popular. LOL)

I tried it and I'm just not too impressed. The day that we can truly change Vista's animated boot screen will be great. It looks like this is essentially just enabling the N GUI boot and changing the picture. Every time I use No GUI boot, it takes noticeably longer to boot my computer up and this is no exception. Plus, for me anyway, a static image for the boot screen is kind of boring. I wanna look at it and feel like something is happening. Even though the default boot screen is very plain, seeing that little green thing sweep across satisfies me in that department.
