It seems it will be very useful, and convenient, but ugly. IMO.

Not great, but certainly functional. You wonder that they couldn't come up with something a lot more esthetically pleasing for all the bucks they get paid (i think).

Nice of MS to decide for us that we4 dont need text on our taskbar, much like they decided no text on explorer windows.

Hell lets just get rid of text in webpages too...and emails..dictionaries!

The linked article indicates that the text is a setting choice.

All I see is a red X in a box and the external link doesn't work for me.

Using IE8 and getting to the WC Fourms from the WC Home Page.

Only on active button.

I hate it, looks dumb. I want text on ALL my taskbar buttons, ALL the time, damnit, and certainly don't want it that huge.

Hopefully we will be able to skin it smaller.

I like the new taskbar! Sorry, but that is just the way it is! LOL. Also, if Microsoft always caters to everyone that whines, they would never get any innovation completed! Don't trash it until you get the chance to use it! I really hate the fact that when Microsoft tries to do something right, users complain. However, when apple does something right, users claim they can't do any wrong! Ugghhh!!! Fanboys suck! LOL.

Okay, the post is working for me now.

I think this is nothing to get too excited about.

I'm on XP and use WindowsFX and it's option to see Taskbar Previews of minimized windows.

Maybe, just a thought here, MS should hire Stardock to do the GUI.  It could work.

Fanboys suck

Coming from someone with Vista in their name? please...

Heres the news, I don't have to use something to know I'm not going to like it. Microsoft has a track record of making bad UI decisions, after seeing it, I can see this is no different.

I agree, takes up way to much screen real-estate and looks like a poorly done XP (or earlier)remake.

Same old, same old Microsoft. They do it everytime. Come up with a nice idea but they do not have a clue on how to make it aesthetically pleasing to look at. I don't think they have one good artist on their staff. I've said it time and time again.........they come up with some great ideas but have no clue on graphic design and how to make it look pleasing to the eye. Just look at IE7 - what could have been an outstanding browser was simply a workhorse because they did not put the effort into the graphics.......and the beta of IE8 is not much better. Still, they don't care and still don't listen. They don't have to because people will buy because it's virtually their only option. I'm not an Apple fan but at least they seem to pay far more attention to the presentation of their products. Microsoft just want to innovate, code it and throw it at the public......and want to forget what it looks like. I've said it before and I'll say it again......Stardock and this community have far more artistic talent in their little finger than Microsoft have in their entire organization. Why the hell don't they sit down and talk to Brad and get some expertize in a department that they are soarly lacking. Still looking at what I see has helped make my mind up for my next purchase......A Mac will certainly be a strong contender

Well, its not just the appearance of the graphics, it's the poor decisions they make regarding functionality and intuitiveness.

Even with WB, doesnt change the fact that a lot of how windows has been changed recently is a real F up.

K, thats its... Brad... time for Stardock to get into the OS dept !

It appears as though both of those are possible according to this post.

Oh good grief! All of a sudden my screen name tells my personality!?! Besides, the screen name is Vista "CUSTOMIZER"! I am no fanboy! That is for sure! I like the things that Microsoft does, yes. However, I like apple as well. Their stuff is quite awesome as well!
