What Can I Delete From The Skin?
"Clean Skin" not working
Sunday, October 12, 2008 by Xiandi | Discussion: Skinning
I just discoverd that the 'clean skin' function in SKS 6.3 is not working for me....well, partially working. When I use it, not all the images that I need to get rid of are gone. Those images are on the list to delete when I run that function, and when I hit the delete button it seems to work fine. The problem is that they do not delete. They are still in the blind.
It appears that I will have to manualy delete these images one at a time.
So, while I'm doing that....
I also remember seeing a post somewhere about deleting files in the blind that have a "~" on them. Is this required? Do I get rid of ALL the files with that on them? What is safe to get rid of?
Thanks.

Xiandi, I don't use SKS 6, just SKS 5, so I can't help you there. But, how I solve the issue of getting rid of all the "junk" files in my blinds is that when making a blind, I use a "working title", such as a letter or a number. When the blind is completely finished and I am satisfied with it, then I do a "Save As", and re-name the file the real title. It is amazing...my final blind is usually cut in half, size-wise!

Yes, delete the images saved in the "temp png" folder and any files with the ~ (these are old UIS files from your precious versions of the skin). If you don't make animations and icons, you can delete the stock ones to make the file size smaller as Windowblinds will install those icons and animations automatically.

Thank you NT!
Jazz, I'll give that a try next time. Thanks!
