Nightmares
a dynamic dream testing utility
Sunday, August 31, 2008 by Littleboy | Discussion: Animated Wallpapers
Nightmares is a small application created to test dynamic dreams. It runs them in a window, allowing you to debug them easily or to record a preview video.
You can set the window size (default is 800x600), chose an output file and FourCC code for the output video.
It currently only runs unprotected dreams: the dreams that come with DeskScapes will work, but any dynamic dream that you bought won't.
See the readme file for command line switches.
Download test build here.
It might feel like it's not really useful right now, but it will be soon (and it has nothing to do with the SDK).

It still defaults to uncompressed video if no FourCC code is specified, but if you have FFDShow you can compress in real time. Which gives you much saner file sizes

The dream I was trying to test (which you have) resizes down based on resolution So I was able to go down to 800x600, hide icons, taskbar and dock and use Debut to get a good capture as a WMV. I'll see what your toy can do in a bit. Thank you my friend.

I've uploaded an updated build with preliminary support for protected dreams.
Of the three I know of, only Liquid Dream is more or less working (settings changes require a restart). Photo Dream freezes after a while and Desktop Collage just crashes ![]()
Note that you will need to activate the protected dreams by loading them through the default interface before being able to load them with Nightmares. XP users won't be able to make it work unless they activate on Vista, copy over their signature files and mess with their user SID.

Hey, I know it's been a while since someone posted here but I'm very interested in using your beta but unfortunately my software skills leave something to be desired. I don't really know what you mean by "Command Line" and "Parameters." So if you could just put it to me in idiot terms I'd be so grateful. I know it doesnt make sense that I know what I want just not how to do it, but help would be great.
Thanks
