I know a lot of people contact me to sort out moderation issues, or ask advice about the site. Please don't from now on, there are plenty of moderators on the site who can help. They are a friendly bunch you know, and there just for you - you only have to ask
Things have changed a lot for me over the last eighteen months. Some will know the story, some will not. So I'll tell it again for those who don't.
December 2006, I injured my back at work, having been told to a job I wasn't trained for or capable of doing. By the following February I was unable to walk and on morphine patches. I had a prolapsed disc lower back which required five months of physiotherapy to get me walking again. I was off a couple of weeks in June, and when I got back to work the Company I worked for was in difficulty...
Then, with all that, I was back at work only ten days when I was in a serious car accident. My car was trashed by a lorry. The emergency services had to cut me out of the car, but fortunately, apart from whiplash and a few bruises, I was mostly ok.
I went on holiday in September. I got back to find my father in hospital with a heart attack, also, waiting for me, was a letter from a firm of solicitors telling me the company I worked for was insolvent - so I had no money and no job. The only money I had for a month was what I had in my wallet...
I started work for an accounting partnership in December, but they also got into difficulty. At the beginning of March this year I was out of work again. This time though, only for two days. I got the opportunity to work as a Finance Officer for a Sixth Form college (16-18 year olds - don't know what you call those colleges in other countries). It's a really good job...
Throughout all this time I was sole carer for my father. He was 88 in May this year. Having been in and out of hospital all year he wasn't all that well. I got back from a weeks holiday in June to find he had passed away.
So where are we now? Well, I'm free! At last I can do what I want, when I want. I don't get home to a mess or lots of work, or constant complaints - like "I don't like this gravy, you've ruined my dinner..." hehe, that's 88 year olds for you. I have money too - the compensation payout for my back injury was only £1k below the maximum ever, plus, shortly I will be getting a huge sum for my car accident...
Things have not looked so positive in a long time. It's like a whole new me. I'm the same age as Madonna. She is always re-inventing herself, well, I'm doing the same.
I'm completely refurbishing the house. So far I'm up to £7k on new furniture and carpets. Hmmm, the smell of real oak in my dining room is amazing - I've never had anything like this before. Wow!
So what am I going to do next? Dunno really - suggestions welcome! To paraphrase Ferris Bueller: "It's not a question of what am I going to do - it's a question of what am I not going to do..."

I knew you were getting on... so I guess "dinosaur" is appropriate.
As for the huge bite.... well I recommend you get some Polident so you don't lose yer dentures.
Oh, and you might have more luck with the ladies if you trimmed back those fingernails.
Anyway, oh prehistoric one, have a great time in Venice and enjoy your break to the max.... starkers.

Hey Mike!! From one Yorkshire boy to another: I'm SO glad you've found that freedom that many of us dream of. Don't waste this opportunity, do all the things you've ever wanted to do, and only the things that make you smile!
We'll all miss you here as a constant voice of reason and humour, and hope you'll call in now and again to tell us of your adventures.

At the moment I'm around here 'lurking'. I've found I don't need a drastic break, just the freedom to be here when I feel like it. You know, there's a massive difference between doing something because you want to, and doing something because you have to.
It's all down to me wanting to rebel. I've had so many years of doing what somebody else wants I now find the whole concept unacceptable. I now do what I want, when I want, because it is what I want...

Jafo tries to do his place....while 'full time' on WC and 'full-time' drawing others' houses....typically hits the hay around 2am [3 last night] and is up at 5.30 when the missus gets up for work....except fridays....then we sleep in till 9....if the cat lets us [not]...
I'll post a happy-snap some time.....once it's painted...

ill pop over and make you bangers and mash one night for din dins.......... luv the white and wood.....so gorgeous together, still loving the simplicity of it all.......less clutter the better sometimes.
ps. you said suggestions..... : by yrself either a chocolate fountain or a chocolate fondu set............

Yup, you've done very nicely... and it looks so light, bright and airy, which is so much more refreshing than dark decor on a bleak English Winter's day. Yup, I still remember those... having to stay indoors as a kid because the weather outside was bloody woeful and the olds wouldn't let us out: "No, you'll catch your death out there!"
Good onya, mate, that's the way! I've never been one for rules or conformity... bit of a James Dean, I suppose... tho it's more likely the pirate blood coarding through my veins. Yup, REALLY! I have ancestors who were pirates and smugglers... the kinds of blokes who thumbed their noses at the 'airs and graces' of society and stuck it to the establishment whenever they could. 
Anyhow, Fuzz... it's good to see you dropping in every now and then.

Dark, dingy and cluttered is out. Clean, bright, simple and clutter free is in.
Hall and stairs are next. That already has a good colour scheme, burnt orange and terracotta, but, too dark and depressing, so it has to go. I'm going to use the same carpet and colour scheme as the living room. Cotton White for the woodwork, ivory for the doors and 'Rice Cake' for the walls (dunno what colour it is, but it looks even nicer in real life than on those pics)
I've already removed the coat rack and put that in the spare room. Dark coats in a hallway = poor light and a shut-in feeling, so they had to go.

Nope... The Fuzzy you knew is gone and will not be coming back. The new me maybe back in the new year, or when I feel right about this place again.
Deionychus is a small, agile dinosaur with sharp claws and a huge bite - seems appropriate somehow.
Here's what I've been doing with my time so far:
Just a glimpse of my new bedroom.
Off to Venice for a few days tomorrow, the when I'm back it's living room/dining room refurbishment...
