OK, so it seems all the movers and shakers at Stardock appear to have the same Porsche...
I really don't like them.....bit too beetle-on-steroids for my liking...
So...
I was all about to rush off and get my first-ever truly Brand New Car...a modest little Yaris [Toyota] when a mate of mine said she couldn't get 4/5ths of eff-all as a trade-in on her car and was gonna flog it privately...
So...here 'tis....
OK, so it's a new interpretation of the word 'new'....as it's VIN is 1991 and first reg'd in '92.
Karinda paid over 30 for it in '97....and I paid 3.
It's [for those who can't recognize it] a SAAB 9000 Turbo ...2.3l 4 cyl 16 valve that puts out 200bhp and can lose me my licence by a factor of 2.4 [probably not all that much less than a Porsche].
With only 201k [in kms] on the clock it's "almost" run-in...and pretty darn good for something 16 years old.
So.....anyone want a '87 Toyota Corolla CS 1600? Has a bit of rabies in the radiator....foams at the mouth due to a popped head gasket, but otherwise 'ok'? ['OK' being car-trader-speak for 'you won't die immediately...but maybe down the road a bit]...

Most 'Australian' car I've ever owned was a Valiant Charger [VJ] 245 Hemi [Chrysler]...and best thing about that was it had the Torqueflite Tranny....same as used in the Aston Martins of the time. [Incidentally the triple Weber carby 265 ver was slated to possibly replace the in-house Aston engine back then].
SAABs are well made....the first ver of the 9000 Turbo [3 of them] did a non-stop trial [enduro] at Talladega [sp] ....60,000 miles at an average 132mph....[22 days]...
Now that's what ya call a car,i'm talk'n bout the charger,ya don't se em that often anymore,arrrrggghhh they just don't make cars like they use too

No they don't! My one and only car (was too into bikes) was a 1956 Zephyr Mk1 put out by Ford... was built like a tank and just as hard to stop. When I sold it in 1972 (to buy a bigger bike), the guys took it bush bashing, lost control and hit a good sized tree - would have totaled any modern car - but with a bit of home style panel beating with a sledge hammer and some bog in the radiator, she was right to go again.
Saw the guy recently and he told me that it was still running in 1997, but needed something more suitable for work and sold it to an enthusiast who wanted to do it up... haven't seen it myself, but apparently its still going strong.

We had Mk1 and 2 Zephyrs as paddock-bombs way back when I was 11 or 12.....we started young.
First car I did an engine-swap on was a 100e Prefect...took the donk out of an Anglia of the same vintage.
Years later we saw kids with EH bombs and thought 'sheer luxury...lucky bastards'.
Re-swelling head gaskets and finding 'any-sparkie-that-would-fit'....we did it all on a shoestring....pocket money was 4/5ths of eff-all...

Yeah, we started young as well... on bikes, 3 of us (12 & 13 yo's) bush-bashing with a 1947 500cc Matchless (single), a 250cc BSA and a BSA Bantam 125cc. Mine was the 500 Matchie... no electric starts on most Pommie bikes in those days, and (with enough compression kickback to throw a lightweight over the handlebars) I was the only one who could kickstart the beast....
Another mate had a Ford Prefect... that was our mischief making machine... did the sort of stuff in it that couldn't be done (comfortably) on a bike.
You had pocket money??? Shoot, half the time we were lucky to even have pockets, we were so poor... and if'n when we did, we used to fill 'em full of old washers to make it look like were were rich/to impress the girls.

When I got my first Spittie I saw an ad for a Morgan 3 wheeler...was about $750 at the time...but I got the Spittie instead.....I later saw the car on a flat-bed...with its Vee twin with the 'M' on the heads.....bastard was a Matchless....I SHOULD have bought it...

Nah, when I left England it was still going... was road registered, too, so had quite a long life after I/we finished it. Mick rode it to work into the 80's... 'til he married and Mrs Mick threatened him with divorce if he didn't get rid of it. Last I heard was that some navy bloke from Plymouth bought it... so who knows, could be still around/going.
Not too sure about one of the Beezas, but the 125cc was written off in 72... Dougal got a bit pissed on scrumpy one night and wrapped it around a pillarbox... he survived but the bike and pillarbox were totalled.
