Xion skin help

Help?

Wednesday, May 28, 2008 by RobJK | Discussion: Skinning

I am trying to make a xion skin and everything is going well except for one thing? You know when you right click the interface and that menu comes up well that doesnt happen with mine. I have it saved as .psd and it recognises it but what do I have to do to make that menu pop up. The one that pops up if you click the tray icon with the options to configure xion or choose skin or exit and a bunch of other stuff? It is only showing a menu that says stuff about stop?

Hi RobJK, It sounds like you are right clicking on a Stop button? If you have a stop button covering your whole skin, or you are right clicking a Stop button then you will see this menu. If you right click on something else you should see the System menu.

You want to have a defined space for each button with the rest of that layer being transparent.

Easiest way to learn how Xion skinning works is to download a skin and open it up in your graphics program and check out the individual layers also check out the layer reference chart on the Xion site help page.

Nope. You want the button layers to be just the size of the button.

Yep!

Rob, just so you know....in GIMP, you cant do animations on Xion. Animations need 'layer sets' and GIMP cant do those. Also, if you open a skin that has layer sets in it, GIMP will pull the layer set apart into regular layers.

If ya get stuck, you know where to find me!

Ok thanks peeps. I have opened a skin in gimp and looked through but it was a very complex one with constant animation and many many layers? so I will try to find a simpler one and work off that? Thanks much.
