Since you are running ObjectDock, do you have any other Icons on the desktop?

If you don't just right click on the desktop somewhere and select Arrange Icons by and then make sure that Show Desktop Icons in not selected.

I might add that I'm on an XP system, not sure if Vista has changed that.

In Vista you right click it and select delete. You can put it back on in control panel/preferences

You can use TweakUI by Microsoft to hide the recycle bin on XP.

If this is in response to my reply it's not under display property. Right click on the desktop, click on Arrange Icons by and then make sure that Show Desktop Icons is not checked.

By doing this no icons will show on the desktop. As you can see it's easy to change back.
