Skyfire

New browser

Friday, May 16, 2008 by Lantec | Discussion: Personal Computing

I'm posting from my cellphone via a new browser called Skyfire. Skyfire allows you to open up convetional web pages instead of the mobile version . The beta program was limited and I signed up several months ago. I'm on vacation right now andd it's the perfect opportunity to try it out.

The pages open as thumbnails and a single tap will bring up a resizable box you can drag over whatever portion of the page you wish to zoom into. The zooming is dynamic and allows me to read posts easily.
If you have a smart phone or pda keep an eye out for Skyfire

Windows mobile 6.1 does just fine for me.
Thank you though for posting this Lantec. Very interesting!

For those who have it make sure you've got the latest version 0.8.5 for those who don't...........

It's now public and that includes the UK http://www.skyfire.com/newsletter/december_2008/December_2008.html

Skyfire released version 1.0 on May 27th......it has integration with several of the social sites like Facebook and twitter as well as video from services like Hulu and youtube......It's free and IMO a better browser than Opera's mobile which is not free.

If you've got internet access on your phone you need to give it a try.
