5 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do!

For all the folks with cell phones, at least in the USA, don't know about other locations for some of the items.(This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)
There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.
Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival.
Check out the things that you can do with it:
FIRST :
Emergency
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find Yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to Establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.
SECOND
Have you locked your keys in the car?
Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy
someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys
In the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on
their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot
From your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock
button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will
unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no
object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has
the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

THIRD
Hidden Battery Power
Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the
keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument
will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you
charge your cell phone next time.
FOURTH
How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following
Digits on your phone: *#06#. A 15-digit code will appear on the
screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it
somewhere safe.
When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider
and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset
so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally
useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know
that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there
would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

FIFTH
Free Directory Service for Cells
Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for
411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not
carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation
even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information
option, simply dial: (800)FREE411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring
any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now.

Your cell phone is also an advanced listening device (bug) that can be activated remotely and silently by anyone who has a slight interest in technology. And you'd never know it. Have an important, private meeting, take the battery out of the phone, it's the only way to ensure it isn't listening in.

Granted they won't work on all cell phones, but it is nice to see some usefull things. Am I showing my age here?

I know that feeling. Do most of my work from home and they took my license for 2 years due to an abundance of tickets/points. And it sucks!!!!
Got this in an email a couple years ago. Tried the extra battery thing on the phone I had back then and it didn't work.
The paranoid people will love reading that.
My boss is constantly checking his phone anytime he is talking about anything/anyone just to be sure he didn't accidentally hit the dial button.
My girlfriend learned a lesson about that once. Her, her brother, and their mother were having a conversation about her father and just after they finished talking he called her a bit unhappy because she had the phone in her pocket and accidentally dialed his number and he listened to the majority of the conversation.

Took mine for 5 for same thing.. Habitual violator, it's the main reason I got into skinning
That was years ago , mine now says 'Safe Driver'

And as if taking it away isn't bad enough they now give you extra fines above and beyond the tickets fines(in NY at least).
"What is a driver responsibility assessment?
In addition to any fines, fees, penalties, or surcharges that you pay for a traffic conviction, you must pay the driver responsibility assessment. The assessment is an amount that you must pay each year for three years. You pay the assessment to the DMV.
If you receive six points on your driver record during a period of 18 months, the annual assessment is $100. The minimum amount that you must pay each year is the annual assessment. The total assessment for the three years is $300. If you receive more than six points on your driver record during a period of 18 months, the annual assessment is $25 for each point more than the original six points. The minimum amount that you must pay each year is the annual assessment. The total assessment for the three years is $75 for each point more than the original six points."

Off subject and I shouldn't do this but zakai1369, wouldn't it have been just much easier to have practiced correct and safe driving habits? Just thinking out loud here.

And the problem was more forgetfulness than unsafe driving.
As I had plenty of tickets but only a few that were speeding majority of the tickets were things like no seat belt and such. What really got me screwed was forgetting to take care of those tickets and then my license getting suspended as a result and me then getting tickets for driving on a suspended license.
The ironic thing is, 3 of the 4 times that I got tickets for driving on a suspended license, I only got "stopped" and ticketed because other people who do not drive safe pulled out in front of me or the person in front of me and caused an accident.
(The 4th time was a burnt out taillight.)
