Currently I can't see a way to update which doesn't involve switching to the update tab and clicking to install all updates in turn. Frankly, one of the advantages I have always seen in Steam was that it could quietly run in the system tray updating my apps as and when without me ever giving it a second thought.
Since Stardock doesn't seem to want to go this route, can we at least have an option to automatically apply detected updates? In addition an "Install All" button for those who want to manually verify first.

Some updates break existing saved games, and there isn't always a way around this, so I personally prefer to know when they are happening and choose when it is convenient to me.

I found Steam extremely annoying updating my games without asking. It hogged up my connection and if the patch broke saved games... well I was pissed off..

As a general rule, it is EXTREMELY bad manners to write a program that performs tasks without first asking permission or informing the user of what is about to happen. HP's 'I think I'll restart the computer now that I've updated, but I'm not going to tell you about it first!' might be one example.
One great thing about Stardock is that that respect the wishes and rights of the end user to choose what happens on their very expensive computer systems.
I would be VERY much against any program running constantly whatsoever, but especially so if it chose to use my system resources and make major changes to a file system without my express permission. Take Adobe's updater 'software' thats more like a virus than anything for example.
It would be nice to have an 'update all' option though.

This is the era of dirt cheap memory, and frankly I'd rather the app ran and silently updated without me ever needing to intervene because my time is more valuable than a few pounds 2GB of memory costs. However, if I am going to have to continually launch Impulse to keep checking on updates, I'd rather I had the option to tell it to just get on with it once launched.

Stardock Central did have that ability as an option. I believe it was even enabled by default. Perhaps they will give you such an option in impulse too now that they know you want it.
