Me too...
More than, it seems that I really begin to lose my interest to DX! Why? Because this "game with gadgets creation" takes too much time to be a hobby and to be free-of-charge.
If you remember I had this possibility more than 1,5 year ago because my business earned enough money for me. But now it is dead (you know...) And I must work to eat, to pay for my home, etc... However I have no time for this if I begin to do something with DX...
So I'm in a deadlock now. On the one hand I like DX and want make a gadgets. But on the other hand I can't do this because of a shortages of money in my purse. And I'm very, very sad by this reason.
One more thing. Stardock made a huge mistake when they created DesktopGadgets.com for sale a gadgets instead of making a special gallery on WC. It could bring quite good money and to help formation of the corresponding market.
The second big mistake is - Master Skins (not sure that I still wish to be a Master because such system is just a discrimination for other talented people who can make some improbable thing but can't sell it because of their WC rating). This considerably brakes the expansion of the market too and prevents a free competition.
As a result - time is lost. And I'm not sure that any efforts to return the people's interest for using DX, more over to buy any gadgets, will make a sense. However I'll try to help you with Desktopx.info.

Thanks for your efforts guys. I share your same concerns about DX. This new site is a step in the right direction and I hope it can be capitalized upon.

May be, may be...
By the way, I nearly finished a big VBScript program which read the Header of media files (like MP3, MP2, MPG, MPEG, AVI, WAV, etc...) and help to get the detailed information about these files (including ID3v1, ID3v2 and Extended INFO tags). This is very useful program for people who want to put in order the files in their Media Library. I'll send you the most important fragments of code after the finishing of all tests.
I made this program for a new Vista Media Player. But there is one fatal problem - DX 3.5 doesn't work with Windows Media Player ActiveX control...
In the beginning I hoped that Stardock will solve this problem. But the history of "Painful Borning" of DesktopX 3.5 has evidently shown us, that we can help itself only ourselves... So I should make my own code that will operate the Player. And it will be the next code I'll send you.
IN GOD WE TRUST!

I think a monthly best of DesktopX article would be a good addition. Choose some of the best widgets, gadgets, etc uploaded in the last month that exemplify the creativity of DX.

Approved the code snippet. Thomas, we need some kind of notification email sent to me/you when someone posts a snippet or other item that needs approval. Also, need a way to delete them as well.

Also, can members submit news or will there be a separate article section?

Best Weather/clock/general info widget-- weather, clocks, system meters etc
Most creative/original-- outside the box stuff
Most innovative/resourceful-- think Vad_M's Weather Lab
Best DX theme
...to name a few.
The DX galleries are slow so if there aren't enough to feature you could go back to older submissions.

Eh, you mean the all-time most downloaded? That has its own stat page, though. Why not some good ones that have been recently uploaded?
Ya mean my WC User Activity Stats? You should probably re-download as I have since updated it. (WC site changes made it go wacky. If you currently don't see any names listed, it's because WC doesn't hasn't fixed that yet.)

I guess this would be a bit biased at time, but the idea is good... Maybe if you create severals Top X widgets criteria like:
Top X widget (creativity)
Top X widget (....)
Top X widget (useful)
Top X widget (Downloaded Last week)
Top X widget (Downloaded 30 days)
Top X widget (Downloaded Last year)
Top X widget (Downloaded Anytime)

There may be very popular clocks that are the top downloaded of all time . . but unless they do something amazing . . there's no need to be on our list.
Martin's weather script might be something we feature . . but we may not feature any actual gadgets.

Thanks,sVis(and no slur on anyone's work was intended, btw) I'll replace it today, it used to black screen on me when changing colors or adding names to the list. I hope WC gets the names back soon. Also, for SirSmiley, I can't get this Folder Icon Changer to work at all, it's probably me. Will this work w/Vista,and if not could you please update it? WWW LinkIt would go to the top of my list! Thanks.
