Driver problems for Geforce fx 5500

Hey, i've had the Geforce fx 5500 video card for awhile and it had been working great. I was trying to play a game and it kept crashing duing it because of my card. I uninstalled the drivers and restarted and a blank screen turned up and keeps happening. I had to plug the monitor back into the old graphics card built into the comp in order to see the screen. Also, when I reinstalled the drivers for the geforce, nothing happend and it still shows up as a black screen when I plug the monitor back into the geforce monitor slot. Anyone know how to help with this problem?

Motti, I'd ave to agree with starkers. Sounds like the GPU is dead.

Not 100% sure really... perhaps a funeral for the 5500 and a new gfx card.
