add explorer beackgrounds

Tuesday, March 25, 2008 by KittyJHG | Discussion: WindowBlinds

Can one add their personal explorer background images in the section to change explorer backgrounds and how do I do this?  Have Vista and most current version of WB6. Tried placing them in "textures" folder, even saving as TGA images like the ones that come with WB. Didn't work. Downloaded the Stardock Images  in Object Desktop and these don't show either( I t6hought that was what this was for- extra images). They do not show in the list.

Yes, the option in WB6 to change background folders image. It's the last tab in the visual styles column. Gosh, please excuse my misspelled words in previous post!!! And I'm supposed to be a retired teacher. LOL

Have WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 6.1 (build 91 x86 - Vista Edition)
I know where the different background textures are located that are included in this version. I even tried to place some of my own background images in TGA form in that folder (you would think that would work, but...), they still do not show up in the options under explorer backgrounds. The only images that show under the options are the ones that come with this version. I guess it's really not a big thing, but I would like to use some different folder backgrounds than the ones that come with WB.

@KittyJHG

Same here. Didnt find an solution yet. Also trying to replace the custom expl images. Which folder did you find them? I didnt find it yet.

You could try to replace a custom image with the ones of your own. Perhaps it might not be shown in the preview but load up when you apply it. Just a guess tough.

I just did a search for "Textures". Mine is in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds\Vista Images\Textures". I guess this could be a suggestion for the WB developers. "Let user add background images".

Hi-

It is possible to change the background image the way you describe, just not by overwriting the tga file with your own.

You have to open the tga file you want to change in your editor first, change it, then save the changes.
