icon source and uploading finished icon

I'm new and don't know what's legal and what's not. I scanned a movie box and removed an image wich I eventually turned into a cool icon but since it's not an original creation am I allowed to upload it for others to use?

Thanx N.T. I think it turned out good for my first attempt. I used photoshop 5 with an ico plug-in and tweaked the image with icon developer. Now he sits on my dock with full zoom enabled.
