The Ads are back

Friday, March 14, 2008 by CarGuy1 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

At first it was only occasionally. Now they are back on every page in the forums. Can Andrew look at this, please?

BTW...Yes, I've logged out and back in,  cleared cookies and cache.

Edit: Right after I posted this, the problems seems to have fixed itself. Go figure.

Neither do I, but it does seem a transient problem as I have had the same problem in recent weeks.

They come and go! Clearing cache and log out/in usually fixes it

I made a similar post the other day. It seems they erraticly show up now and again and just as quickly vanish. I was just glad to find out they weren't actually the sponsor spots we were told about.(they always showed up under the guise of sponsor.)
I guess it's just a glitch.

For what it is worth . . when reporting this type of thing . . including some basic data might help.

  • Browser
  • Browser version
  • URL
  • Time
  • Screenshot
  • Steps you took to try to resolve
  • Alternate browser test?

Since it was brought up again.

Still having this problem also. Comes and goes often.

Using:

XP Home Edition

It happens, in both Firefox 2.0.0.12 and Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11IC, on any page at different times and clearing cookies/cache and logging off and back in hasn't made any difference.

Same problem here. Intermittent over past few days. Using XP home with latest release of IE7. Did the usual things like clearing cookies etc. to no avail.

The other problem I'm having is when I click Recent Forum Activity it takes me to the main Forum board instead of the recent threads. When I click Recent Forum Activity a second time it usually rights itself.

I was having the ads problem yesterday, I use SDC and it's web browser. Deleting cookies created by the forum, logging out, clearing out IE7 browser stuff (not sure on that) and logging back in has cleared it up. It was happening about every hour to two hours yesterday. So far no problems this morning.

For what it's worth, andrew has been updating the forums pretty steadily from the major update last week.  You may be getting some cached love from those.  Not sure . . but it seems to be related.

He has even put up his own ads in between the loading of pages.

I only saw it yesterday because the pages were loading so slow

That's only legal in Las Vegas.

He has even put up his own ads in between the loading of pages.

Now that's funny.

Ads back just now here.
IE7, Vista Ult 32, fresh login after cache clear.
Space for ad on top mostly no ad but on right ads by google has ads most of time.
Current 13.20 GMT
Seems mostly on home and forum pages than on gallery pages.

They do seem to be coming back, been using Impulse now instead of SDC. I've been able to get rid of them by running CCleaner, my new favorite toy.
