So, if I understand this right, you deleted the wallpaper which was approved this morning because other submissions knocked it off the front page?

I hope that is not what you are saying

Had been thinking to do the same myself. 2 walls, 4 size packs each, 8 total. That makes page 1 for unregistered users who account for about 80-90% of downloading. The full and widescreen had already been up but are now up front again, so taken down and re upped. No offense intended but I would think a WC mod should know better than to upload like this.

I agree with Cavan1 on this issue. I used to upload one pack and then many wanted wide screen versions so I uploaded a wide screen pack as well although I felt odd taking two pieces of screen real estate for the same wall. After reading many threads, it seemed to me that most preferred a single download even though it would be larger with all the res sizes included. I have gone back to the single upload. Eight uploads of the same wall is a bit much. If there is a policy about how this should be handled, I am not aware of it. There should be a policy on this it seems to me.

People will find your work, regardless of what page it is on.

I frequently browse through 10 pages or so if I am looking for a new theme or package.

My apologizes about this,
well the policy would be to have pack of the same wall but you can have seperated packs for differents types of sreen like dual/triple/full/ or wide.

In this case i thought like (for me at least) it wasn't the same wall, i could do it like this.
But i admit feel bad about spam the galleries like that...
Now that i've confirmation that some didn't like this way there what i'll do right now:

edit the #2 packs to send them to my PP and leave the #1 packs on the galleries (that's why i've already write the link to my PP in descriptions.)

I wish it'll be better like that.

The full and widescreen had already been up but are now up front again, so taken down and re upped.

The fulls and wides needed an update (add sizes and take away some others) anyway

No offense intended but I would think a WC mod should know better than to upload like this.

No offense at all. Again my apologizes about this.

i think for walls all that needs to go to the mail gallery is 1 wall at a 'median' resolution - description to include link to personal page to get any other size supplied

some of us have no choice - stuck with rural dial up - multipacks kill us - especially since a few site upgrades ago, I can no longer use FF&Leechget to download - have to use IE and let LG catch the clicks

There isn't, and I doubt there will be.

(PS.: how come we never hear anyone complaining when someone uploads 5-10-15 screenshots in one day?!)

So whats up with these people that upload 5 or 10 or even 15 screenshots in a day? That really bugs me

I know its annoying when someone makes a series of ObjectDock icons that go together and then upload them individually all in the same day. If people want the set they have to go through so many more downloads. And if they dont want the entire set it'd be easier to just delete the ones they dont want after downloading a single pack. Only reason I can see for people uploading this way is to try and boost their download numbers.

mmm...how about a wallpaper pack, that only has one 1600x1200 and one 1920x1200.
That way people can resize the images themselves. If someone requests a specific size, it could be emailed to them or placed in our personal gallery. This would make for faster downloading for dial up users, and would take up less bandwidth. Irfanview is one of many fine and free programs that resize quickly and painlessly. My computer would be so much happier if I only had 2 sizes of a wallpaper and the preview saved in a folder, instead of the 7 sizes and the preview that I usually have.

Not only then, but then upload the same icons to the Misc Icons gallery as well.

I absolutely agree and have said the same thing many times (although would probably be best to just go for the win and start widescreen at 2650x1600).

26 resolutions per walls (total 52 walls with the second wall packs i send to my PP)

I show this to make the dialog easier about the packs.

My personal tastes are that i prefer get all sizes at once
(cause i don't want to open Photoshop each time i change my wall or to create a widescreen version for my second screen on vista or even to create a dual monitor to make my two monitor matching)
And it's easier to deleted the unused walls than resize every wall you dld isn't it.

But as you can see, all at once could done a 12Mb download who is what "you" dialup users would cry about isn't it.

So like i prefer get all sizes and i prefer when i skin think on everything and everyone, i always do all i can.
And make my walls in separeted download regarding the type of screen to make the download with less MB for dial-up users.

Well once that said, I don't think (i talk as a user of uncommon resolutions) i would like everytime i want a wall to go on the wallpaper page and then go on personal gallerie. It's a pain.

Other thing is preview, honestly many fullscreen wall don't match really well when resize to a widescreen resolution and i won't talk about when it's a dual or triple monitor wall resized from a full one.
I think user prefer see what they will dld (especially many users non subscribers who have a dld limite)

totally agree and i'm one of the first to cry about it.

There i'm not sure, i guess to boost their dld they should make packs, example:
a pack with 2 icons will take 2000 dlds and wil be notice
but two icons separated will take maybe 1000 and 1000 and will not be notice like the pack (in yesterday dld list for example)

again 2 cents

Not sure if I understand that.

What I meant was if they would just put all the icons in a single pack then it would be less clutter in the gallery. But lets say they put them all in a single pack and 175 people want them. Then they get 175 downloads. But uploading them individually if the same 175 people want all of the icons, and lets say its a set of 15 icons, then they end up with 2625 downloads total for the same work.

Just makes it more difficult for those 175 people to get them though.

Some folks want all Walls bundled in large packs while others want them spit up so its not so hard to download. I think Quentin chose reasonably and tried to do what he felt was best.

He split them up in to walls built for each monitor assembly, WS  and multiples, while still trying to keep the files small enough to Dl easily. I guarantee you Quentin meant no harm and was not trying to push folks off the main page.

I'm not sure why people are so adamant about the first page tho, it's not like they disappear in to oblivion after they drop off the first page..

getting back to the original post; if it was up to me, the wall he posted would be removed permanently if he did uploaded it again just because it had cycled thru to the second or third page. it's not up to me, though.

Or, like someone else said already, uploading 10-15 (or more) single png's therefore burying a dock that was unfortunatley uploaded right before that. If you have the png's all made, package them together. Don't be a chump and put them up separate because you want more downloads (AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT COMES DOWN TO!) This does not include or is not targeted at folks like Tiggs whose icons are incredibly detailed and take a long time to make. Those of you out there that do what I'm talking about YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! And we know too.

i agree completely. unfortunately some people's ego's are inflated by numbers.
maybe if these people upload a series of icons are emailed back and told to put them into 1 pack instead of individual icons. just a suggestion

Never in question. ( Agreed), more of an attempt, at least for my part in this thread, to see if there was a recommended or preferred method of handling the various res sizes and size of downloads.
