Looking at another thread got me curious.

Who is retired from the US armed forces.  Which one and from, to.

US Army...feb. 1969-Oct 1989....20 3/4 years.

U.S Air Force, August 1968 to Aug 1988, 20 yrs and some odd days.

You know, I have no right to post in this thread. I wanted to enlist in the AF when I was a bit younger. Went through 4 years of AFJROTC. I so desperately wanted to be a pilot (still do). I went to the recruiter's office, and you know what I found out?

I CAN"T BE A PILOT IN THE AF BECAUSE I"M PARTIALLY COLORBLIND!!!

Talk about crushing someone's dreams......

Enlisted in '92.
Discharged during Basic Training for flat feet.  Couldn't get a deferment because the Army was downsizing.
MOS was 71M - Chaplain Assistant 

There have been so many days since then that I wish things had gone differently.  It may not be my fault . . but I think not serving in America's armed forces is my greatest failing.  (

Enlisted at a late age in 2004 and was out by 2006 thanks to an early heart attack. I have flat feet as well, so when the time came to do the light box test, I just sort of forced them to arch. For the brief time I was in, I was a proud 19K (M1 Abrams crewman).

I didn't retire, but I did 4 years in the USAF as a telecommunications specialist in the early 80's. My husband did 14 years, until they forced him out due to military spending cutbacks. We met in Germany where we were stationed together...and 22 years later, we're still deeply in love.

Maybe better title...Military Service....

Me, United States Marine Corps...the men's department of the Navy.   All you squids out there, you know us Marines love you. Who else would haul all our crap around and put up with us like you. Nobody. The Air Force wouldn't want to get dirty and the Army is scared of us.

Of course they did, they couldn't get any women....they're in the Navy for cripes sake. Marines will dance with anybody given enough to drink. We have no scruples.

All in good fun. I fully support Military service, regardless of the branch. Some of the best times I had in the military were joint exercises. No harm meant to ANYONE.

My father was Air Force non-com for 4 years and Army Office for the next 26.
I couldn't wish for a better life growing up.
