Crack between top of taskbar and bottom of any maximized app

Friday, February 15, 2008 by fontinalis | Discussion: WindowBlinds

Hi all,

Does anybody know how I can get rid of the line between the top of my taskbar and the bottom of whatever app I'm using. It's just blank space and I can see my desktop wall through there.

Just kind of an eye catching/non ergonomic annoying thing is all. I'm using winxpprosp2. This has always been there with many skins (Diamond now), and previous versions of WB6 as well.

I already tried 'don't use per pixel borders' w/no change.

Cheers,
f

I posted this some time ago but never got a response so I'll give it another try.

When I load some skins in WB6, like the new Dragon skin, I get an unskinned line "crack" between the browser and the taskbar? The crack spans the entire taskbar and any app that is fully maximized (i.e., browser, word, etc...).

It is because those skins, as Dragon does, have a completely transparent resizing bar. You need to open the skin in SkinStudio and edit the image for resizing bar so it is not completely trans.

Thanks Canvan! I'll fire up SK6 right now but I don't know how to use that program. So I'm looking for the resizing bar image?

BTW, I thought I could just use duct tape on that crack. 3M duct tape

So I'm looking for the resizing bar image?

1st)Edit Start Menu and Taskbar(2nd)Edit Horizontal Taskbar (3rd)Resizing bar

Use the same canvas size (for ease)make a non-trans image

OK. I screwed up the first dragon, uninstalled it, redownloaded it and made a Dragon Test copy to work on.

Now i'm in the right place.

By 'same canvas size' you mean to use the same image size right? I'm in Resizing Bar/image tab then I click edit image...but...when I click on edit image all i have is mspaint.

So I open the image in mspaint and get a little black line, zoomed in, poured brown in with the paint bucket, closed sk6 and my crack is gone.

THANKS AVMAN!!!

Hey Sir B., sure that is the easy way but when you have a skin with a nice resizing bar you then have to unlock taskbar to have full look. One that comes to mind is Copper Deck 2, much better look with task unlocked.

When taskbar is locked you can't resize it so no need for resizing bar

You guys rock! I'll keep playing with SK6. Looks like I need some imaging sw besides mspaint too. I'll see what free packages are out there. Thanks a bunch.

I've had this a few times with Dragon. The white bar is visible even with the taskbar locked, which shouldn't happen with a normal resizing bar.

Mostly a re-apply works to restore the transparency.

I saw this white bar too, but I thought I screwed up the original dragon skin when I edited a copy of it. At least I now know it wasn't my mucking around in SK6.
