Skinners, Artists, Coders, and Testers Needed: Community Suite
Happy Birthday!!

After the success on the Troll Thumping Day Suite some members of the Mother Thumpers are coming together to create the "Happy Birthday Suit(e)".
I envision this suite centered around a DX gadget that counts down to your birthday. On your birthday the gadget will prompt you to download the most recent incarnation of the suite components so for your special day, your desktop will celebrate with you.
At this point we have some components assigned to artists but this is a collaborative project and welcome input and assistance from everyone. Please jump in and help out if you'd like.

And Po' you know there's still time left to get this project done but if this was like a company and there was this deadline to do a certain important project and you just happened to be sick, well...the boss would have to replace you with someone to continue the project they were working on to avoid the deadline and lose money. So Zubaz replacing you with someone else til u feel better isn't a threat.
You probably already knew that but i usually don't have time to talk on the forums so i might as well type anything i can.

I am working on the fireworks, but nothing worth showing yet.
Also I need to work on the balloons some more.
I would love to also include this in the screensaver.
Anything on the wallpaper, yet.

I'm still working on Zubaz's cake. sigh. It's a bitch. A cake with a wedge out just doesn't work. A wedge is tough to utilize.
Then, my wife. She starts with "You never show me what you're working on anymore.."
There is a reason for this. But, forgetting myself, I show her the cake.
"That doesn't look like a cake. It looks like a spool...with...with stuff on it."
I show her the first cake.
"Oh, honey. Sorry. That just looks all wrong. And they're both shaped funny."
I tell her that the step-son knew it was a cake. he chimes in. "No, I said it looked like a slice of cake." Then he looks at the latest cake. "That looks like someone puked their guts up on a stool." Van-Gogh should be grateful he didn't have to contend with my step-son.
So, I explain what I am trying to do.
"Hmmm. I don't know. I do think the chocolate is all wrong, though. How about vanilla?"
I tell her that that's what I'm being told.
Then...
"You know, I don't mean to critisize, but is that a 'present'?"
"Yes."
"Uh-huh."
"What?"
"Nothing. It's just that, well...everything else is kind of in primary colors. Do you think it fits in?"
I stare at the present that took me two hours to make work as a start button.
"Here's a thought, hun. Why don't you use the present for the start window and a cake or cupcake for the start button? Except make the cake vanilla...and the present needs to be in primary colors."
As she goes on, I grab a cigarette and head for the backdoor.
"You could do that, right?"
"You...uh..grr..you don't know what I went through to make what I have work. It's not as easy as just switching."
"I'm sorry. You asked. I only wanted to help. I'm just being honest."
As I head for the backdoor with my cigarette, the baby looks at me and opens her mouth.
"GHAaaaaaAAAaaa! Gha Gha GHA gagagag..dadadada..Ahhhhaaaaaahhahh."
I mumble. "Yeah, no shit. You go explain to her why I don't show her what I'm working on."

OK . .more seriously . . if you need assistance, just ask. Post a rough scetch and ask for different versions from teh team. We might come up with something even better than what any one of us could do.
Or . . .take your time and do it right.
I'm cool any way.

Here is Zubaz's cake. This is it. I mean..THIS IS IT.
The animation has some tiny bugs, but that's because what you are seeing had to be 'reduced' to get it through imageshack. Winky and the candle will be what is animated in the final blind, the cake is the start window. I will add the cake to the blind, so you can see it it..offer it up for testing (taskbar, start window) and finally move onto to the rest of the blind. Sorry for the delay. I hope this little preview makes it worth the wait. (I had to go and purchase more memory. The animation was killing my little PC. Who do I send the expense report to?)
