DeskScapes provides animated wallpaper for all users of Windows Vista.

Animated wallpaper isn't just for Windows Vista Ultimate users anymore.  With the release of beta 1 of DeskScapes 2.0 on Object Desktop, all users of Vista can use the hundreds of available .DREAM files here on WinCustomize as their animated backgrounds.

Object Desktop users also get some exclusive animated wallpaper content including four dynamic dreams (Water Dream, Earth Dream, Water Color, and Box Sample).

If you don't have Object Desktop, you can get it here.

I have just installed this and I think its great !
Although sometimes my screen freezes and I get a "Display drivr stopped responding and has recovered" error and sometimes my notebook just goes black and freezes altogether.

Any ideas why this is happening !?

Posting your system specs might help.  Video card, OS version, etc

Also: I'm getting an error on some dreams that "The dream may contain an invalid video type or a compatible MPEG-2 Video Decoder may not be present." I'm also running Vista Business, but I've got Quicktime & iTunes installed, so shouldn't I be able to play MPEG-2 files?

Where I do download this codec?

I'm trying to use the Sharkpit dream.

I am a Vista Business user had some luck with CCCP but am having trouble with most of the Stardock created non-dynamic dreams. (Not just theirs though, and not all of theirs either [temperamental works, sharkpit doesn't])

The encoding method is starting to mean a lot more to me in the dream description.

The right-click thing was fixed by a restart of the computer.

Vista Business Users: Looks like we'll need a much better "You don't have MPEG on your machine" message than whatever it has now.  .Dream files support MPEG and WMV.  Windows Vista ULtimate and Home Premium support .MPEG and .WMV but Business and Enteprrise only support .WMV.

Just uninstalled all non-standard codecs, cleaned the registry, rebooted, and installed CCCP and all dreams are running well.

Thanks Stardock!

This is brilliant and all, but I found that when I have a dream running, I can't move any of the desktop Icons. Any idas why or anyone else had this problem. I'm using Home Preium by the way.

Depending on the length of the video my CPU can be higher or lower.  The dynamic dream use almost nothing.

I just noticed that when i use my Browser that cpu stayed super high. Did not know that it was minimized, But once i Maximized my window it jumped way down. Very Cool

I really like how SoundPackager moves soundpacks to the appropriate directory on execution.  I wonder if dreams will act the same way in the final release.

Since my XP computer that I loaded Vista Ultimate crashed
I been out of the " Dream Biz " , I rebuilt it but with XP
back on ..... I bought a new Vista Premium computer and have
been waiting for this program to arrive , thanks to Stardock
all is well again in Dream Land - I loaded all 29 of my previous
DREAMS and they all work GREAT with no problems at all
including the sound - so feel free to download at will people .....

I can not get the dreams to work. Vista will not recognize the .dream file format and when I click on a dream file it asks what program I want to use. What am I doing wrong. I have Vista Home Edition on a Dell XPS running an Nvidia graphics card with tons of memory.
