2007 Wincustomize Senior of the Year Contest

Thursday, December 27, 2007 by Leo the Lion | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Yep, It’s that time of year again………..The 2007 Wincustomize Senior of the Year award………….

The naughty little schoolboy in me can’t be denied……I dared myself…….and I’ll tell you, it took a lot of soul searching and courage…….but in the end I thought "Hell, what the heck"………..I fully expect to be thrown in the Wincustomize Dungeons and left to rot but that’s life…………or death, in this case!!!

So before I announce my choice of candidates and a little introduction piece for them I would like you to know that there are three very luxurious prizes, up for grabs, for your chosen winner:-

A night out with Po’ and Skinhit at a restaurant of your choice. A crash helmet together with two dog muzzles will be supplied.

A weeks Computer Engineering Course with Kona. Normally you would be expected to to get this qualification over a year but Kona is offering a ‘crash’ course which can be completed in a week………….or ten minutes……whichever you prefer.

A full autographed copy of all of Alperium’s work. Yep, I purchased 1,492 CD RW discs to put these on, from PC World. You will be the envy of the whole of China with this fabulous prize.

So without further ado I’ll introduce my candidates – Please feel free to add some of your own during the thread…………..

Jafo……..Where would we be without this man? A stalwart in every department. A man of many words and many that I don’t understand. Do you know I read one of his answers in one of the forum threads, the other day, fifteen times…..Yep, 15 frickin’ times and I’m still none the wiser. I think he was saying ‘No you’re not doing that" but still not sure. Perhaps the intellectual bodies in Australia communicate this way? Or perhaps all the noise from those motor racing engines has caused this ‘speech impediment’. A guy whose credentials speak for themselves. I love this man.

Fuzzy………A British Bulldog if ever there was one. A nice guy who deals firmly with any transgressions and does not suffer fools gladly. Sometimes gives the impression that he got out of bed the wrong side but hey! it happens to the best of us. He obviously loves the Austrian hills. Did you know the Austrians are renowned makers of the ‘Cuckoo Clock’?…..or was that Switzerland?………… which in itself tells you a lot about this guy. A man who climbs mountains for this site.

Zubaz…………Our trusty American steed. He’s like a ray of sunshine and my dog. Always around when you need him. That’s when he’s not trying to give kisses and huggles to Brad, Zoomba and the rest of Stardock. This guy is the world’s best speller. Who says so? He did and I believe him. He says he is writing his own book on OS Customization. I pity the poor bastards who have to read it!!!! Send it to Jafo, first, for a spell check before you publish. Zu, as he is affectionately known by some of us is everywhere on this site and is always at hand to help with anything. Hey Zu, my bicycle has a puncture have you got two minutes to spare. This man is ‘the best’. Why? He told me so.

Boxxi………Another British ‘Master" who has more creative skill in his little finger than I have in the whole of my body. I have virtually all his skins, in fact I now have an ‘outfit’ made by him for every occasion. There’s not enough room on my computer so I have to hang them up in my closet with the rest of my clothes, much to my wife’s annoyance. A man with unrivalled artist ability who skills are like a good wine……..they mature with age and just keep getting better and better.

Quentin………He’s a relatively new ‘Wizop’ but his work speaks volumes for his character and skills. He’s French, you know. The Brits and French don’t usually get along but since watching the films Ratatouille and The Pink Panther, I’ve seen these French guys in a different light. Yep, they are wonderful human beings and totally misunderstood. Seriously, people, this guy Quentin is a nice guy. This man has proven his worth to the community at every level and was deservedly promoted to the highest level. A really really nice guy.

Wom, Erk and Koasati……….These guys are like submarines. They run silently and just below the waves but when they surface they always have something important to say and you would be wise to read and inwardly digest their every word. Never piss these guys off because remember all submarines carry torpedoes and you don’t want to be on the wrong end of one of those. No, seriously, three great guys who are truly magnificent specimens of seaman………..Did I spell that right? Oh! well. They are like the three Wincustomize Admirals of the Sea.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you without further ado our ‘Seniors’………Please give them a warm hand………No, guys that means a round of applause not a slap round the head………..

Please feel free to add any additional candidates or your own thoughts why one of these great people deserve the wonderful prizes on offer…………If you dare!!!!!.......there’s plenty of room in those Dungeons………..

Vote now!!!!!!

How does the saying go…………"Light blue ‘touch paper’ and retire to a safe distance"………

I'm gonna nominate Po`....so's he can sit with himself and Skinhit at his choice of restaurant and be amused (or annoyed the crap out of) by their antics.

I see the word 'Exiled' got mentioned. Does that mean that I get banished and can go be a 'pirate' with Starkers. Anythings better than those creepy dungeons  (

Leo . . thanks (I think) for being included in this list of . . . folks.

I'm not sure I want to be labelled as a senior . . but in internet years  . . I guess I'm ancient here.

The insteresting thing is that the people on the list are the least of the people here at WC.  We may be the more visible than others. . . but if you stuck the "seniors" in a forum together there wouldn't be much action.  I'd suggest that it'd be fairly boring.

It's everyone else around us that makes this place whjat it is.

I nominate everyone else for being the heart and soul of Wincustomize.

Great job everyone!

Zu.......A Senior here, as far as I am concerned, is an 'Elder'.......someone who is 'senior' in experience and expertize who the Community look up.......not necessarily in age. So don't worry, I wasn't calling you an 'old goat'........I was trying to be respectful in a disrespectful humourous way......But I guess I need to quit whilst I'm ahead as sooner or later 'senior' revenge will surely be sought

Haptork, that's a tricky one.......Hmmmmmmmm!!! Me thinks Hmmmmmm!!!! It's gotta be Zoomba. Seriously, he does a lot of good 'hands on work' here but he has not revealed sufficient deficiencies in his character traits for me to write a good resume about him A good guy, whose heart is in the right place. Now if only these guys would have some courage and put this as a 'News Item' with one of those lovely shiny colored 'VOTE NOW' buttons with a link to the list of candidates and we could a real giggle. But that ain't going to happen.

I was thinking of doing a '2007 Wincustomize Forum Poster of the Year' too and I have some great resumes and prizes in my head but I need to switch off the over zealous imagination and as I said before.........quit whilst I'm ahead.

Quentin.........You're only 26 but every organization needs 'young blood' otherwise the 'old gits' get to have their own way all the time. By the way do you cook as well as that loveable little character Ratatouille?

Bin thinking about it, and I'm rather glad I've not been nominated... I can well imagine we'd all be asked to leave the restaurant of my choice during entree, thanks to the shenanigans and outrageous behaviour of Po` & Skinhit.

It had occurred to me that I'd prefer sitting at a table with Jafo and Fuzzy in a pissing contest over Oz and Pommie cricket... but I guess it'd be the same result, 'cepts I probably wouldn't get to even order the entree.

I also thought about sitting down to dine with Brad... but then I could see me getting exiled for going French and ordering frogs legs.

However, if there's a category for most sanitary senior, I'll be up for that if the prize is a nice young maid to help keep my desk & stuff clean n' tidy.

Dear Wom, as our gracious queen would say "with the powers that have been bistowed upon me I now announce you to be First Sea Lord of Wincustomize"........Arise, Sea Lord Wom

First Sea Lord? Oh my...

I think all us 'seniors' should be able to choose special honorifics. Mine would have to be 'Science Officer'
