Paint Shop Pro XI Contains Spyware Program

Corel Uses Spyware?

Wednesday, December 19, 2007 by unhappycamper88 | Discussion: Personal Computing

I was thinking about upgrading my PSPX & was on Loadboy's site when I came across a link to http://ussenterprise.blogdns.net/blog2/archive/2007/02/16/316.aspx

It seems that Paint Shop Pro XI introduces a license protecting spyware program called PSIService.exe upon install. I couldn't find any posts about this here so I decided to post it myself. Guess I'm sticking with PSPX.

one good thing is that the link also provides the user with ways to disable this "service" from running. I am sick and tired of so called big companies putting these invasive little incidious pieces of software into their software purely for tracking the use of their programs. even when they say the program sends no personal information back, in reality it does send something. and after paying out the money for a program like PSP
it's pretty unforgivable to include spyware. Imagine if windows vista sold with my web search bar as part of it's install process. there would be an immediate uproar against microsoft, this is the same as what should happen to the makes of PSP. send them a strongly worded email letting them know your feelings about this and if they get enough feedback they might remove this crap. good luck
