this probably wasn't worth making a thread over but...

Tuesday, December 11, 2007 by horizon | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

hello again... it's been quite some time since i was what you might call "active", if not for the lizard i wouldn't have even recognized the place.

i wonder how many people might even remember me, i'm sure it's probably outweighed by those who are wondering who i even am, as it looks like the community's been doing some growing.

i could ask a ton of questions, considering all the changes, but i better just stick to the basics. how the hell is everyone? i'm sure there's got to at least be a fair handful of people i know from when i was around. i saw a few names i'll never forget on the way in here, and even the word association thread is still kicking lol.

so make sure to say hello if you drop in and ask me how the wife and kids are doing, small talk never hurt anyone.

I've been a bit absent myself, but that's about to change.
I'll be driving through Marshall on the 26th . . can you have coffee ready?

Coffee is always ready at my house ... I'm addicted. I reckon I could spare a cup or two.

hello fuzzy, hello koasati.

it's nice to bump into everyone again, and i suppose i will vstyler, i'm sure i could submit a few things but... well i guess i need to be finding out some things, i have no idea how much might have changed since last time.

don't suppose any object dock oriented people are around? or maybe i should head into the skinning forum.

I'm still hangin around if your referring to dock backgrounds and such as well as Cavan and a few others....and theres also a new kid on the block (Messiah) putting out some great stuff as well!

i'm sure you're as likely to help as any gizmos, though updating to the newest version answered a few questions. i was hopeful the zoomer dock might have been "fixed" to work as the tabbed docks do, i never did get around to mailing jeff about that. but it's nice to see some new stuff, and especially nice to see that clipping bug is gone.

but some stuff i'm not sure on yet would be, are their any new[ish] lines of code? are there any concerns on vista that i need to be aware of? or is it just the same to make them as ever? and... i forgot the other stuff i was going to ask.

going to check out the fresh blood for now.

Actually there are some new codes you can use...but I don't think Jeff has ever gotten around to updating the actual "SkinningTheDock" file. Rather than having the TabOverlap Left/Right at the top now you can add that to each background along with a new contentbuffer code for tabs. They would be used for tabs that have graphics in them that you don't want the text to overlap onto.

And for the side docks using this code

Background right is...
left is bottom
right is top

Background left is...
left is top
right is bottom

[Background]
Image = YourImage.png
LeftWidth = ?
TopHeight =?
RightWidth = ?
BottomHeight = ?
OutsideBorderLeft = ?
OutsideBorderRight = ?
ContentBufferTop = ?
ContentBufferBottom = ?

TabOverlapLeft = ?
TabOverlapRight = ?
TabContentBufferLeft = ?
TabContentBufferRight = ?

[backgroundBottom]
LeftWidth = ?
TopHeight =?
RightWidth = ?
BottomHeight = ?
OutsideBorderLeft = ?
OutsideBorderRight = ?
ContentBufferTop = ?
ContentBufferBottom = ?

TabOverlapLeft = ?
TabOverlapRight = ?
TabContentBufferLeft = ?
TabContentBufferRight = ?

[backgroundLeft]
LeftWidth = ?
TopHeight =?
RightWidth = ?
BottomHeight = ?
ContentBufferLeft = ?
ContentBufferRight = ?
OutsideBorderTop = ?
OutsideBorderBottom = ?

TabOverlapLeft = (Top)
TabOverlapRight = (Bottom)
TabContentBufferLeft = (Top)
TabContentBufferRight = (Bottom)

[backgroundRight]
LeftWidth = ?
TopHeight =?
RightWidth = ?
BottomHeight = ?
ContentBufferLeft = ?
ContentBufferRight = ?
OutsideBorderTop = ?
OutsideBorderBottom = ?

TabOverlapLeft = (Bottom)
TabOverlapRight = (Top)
TabContentBufferLeft = (Bottom)
TabContentBufferRight = (Top)

And you might want to get with Messiah as well....I've seen him using codes I didn't even know worked with OD as far as resizing the icons within the tile docks. I haven't tried them as of yet since I haven't done any tiles so I can't tell you much more than that.

i never was a fan of tiles, maybe if i could tile and use a background, and one day i might think of some good way to use the foreground feature as well lol.

oh and did we ever get the ability to hotkey the dock, or just hotspots and such still? i didn't see it, but i've been looking over a lot i'm hoping i missed it, i'd kill for a way to bring a floating tab dock to the front by pushing a mouse button.
Fairyy~
