bobbyhundreds: I've reset your activation count on everything, so you should be all set.

Is there a way to reset the activation threshold automatically? I use multiple drives C-D-E-F and I install WindowBlinds independantly on each drive. And I format very often as I just cant keep up with the spyware/antispyware cold war, every couple of months or so. I've already purchased WindowBlinds three times and have only ever used it on this single computer and with this single IP address. I want to format again (but I dont know how many activations I have left) and my wife will kill me if I buy it again. lol Also is there a way to tell how many current activations you have remaining?

buying WB doesn't reset your activations

Support resets your activations

activations is how many times you can activate the serial without triggering a suspicion of you giving copies away

when you activate it goes to the server - if there's a bunch it tells you your limit was reached

then you contact support and they reset you so you can reactivate the WB you already paid for

not sure you wife should kill you, but if you bought WB everytime you reached a limit, maybe she should at least slap you around a while

Activitations can only be reset by Stardock. You need to contact [email protected]

mitche323 I think you will need to explain to support about the multiple drives and the reformating issue. They may have a better way for you then to load WB on each drive.

mitche323, if you constantly reformat and install, it may be a better idea to take a snapshot of the hard drive after you install OS and all your applications, activate OS and any application that needs activation and before start using the computer to go online. I used to do that. This saves a lot of time and activations. I used Norton Ghost, the only Norton product I would use. I think they changed the name from Ghost to something else recently.

Thanx guys, I know (now) that buying WindowBlinds doesn't reset the activations. The thing is, I didn't know it then. And when the install said that the activation limit had been reached, I just assumed that I was playing the cards I had dealt myself and rebought it. It's only $20 for a top notch program so it's not a biggy. Only once I had a problem with the program and in talking with an extremely helpful girl at Stardock Support, she walked me through the problem and we got to talking and only then did I find out that the activations could be reset. Hey, if when I first found the product it was $60, I still would have bought it - lol - so I am all good on that.

I was just hoping for a way to not bother the folks over at Stardock Support over what is admittedly something I have chosen to do.

But on the other side of the coin, I have other programs that I have purchased and WindowBlinds is the only one with 'Activation Limits' - I mean it's either coming into that IP address or it's not, no matter how many times you install it.

The idea from James on snapshoting the drives is something I can try to learn up on. Or take my wife out to dinner.......
