Did uninstalling help?
Can you reinstall, reboot, see if it fails again and post your system config from WB?

Do your .MSSTYLES and .THEME files open and do they have the right icon or are they white or something else?

Actually they are white(theme files). It shows the icon for unrecognized file.... Aero works but I wouldnt be able to change the theme if it suddenly went to Windows Classic or Vista Basic...

i need you to check this out for me...
click start, open regedit from the instant search(do not modify anything)
click on 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT', and on that huge list go down to 'themefile' then down to 'shell'
this is what i have which is wierd

then i went down to 'open' under 'themefile' and also no value for the item set there, only until i got to 'command' there was a set value..
to anyone with vista and NOT THIS PROBLEM please check it out.. ive been trying to edit my appearance properties for ages now
