Add some "ear candy" to Windows

Stardock has released SoundPackager 1.0.  SoundPackager makes customizing your sound experience in Windows easy. It works by allowing users to download and distribute pacakges of sound schemes and apply them to their system.

SoundPackager includes an easy to use editor for making sound schemes that can then be packaged up and shared with others. There are already dozens of sound packages available to choose from with more being added daily.

SoundPackager also comes with several premium sound schemes. If you've gotten tired of the Windows XP or Windows Vista sound schemes, then definitely check out SoundPackager to see the additional options.

SoundPackager is a free download. It costs $19.95 to register or registered as part of Object Desktop which includes other applications such as WindowBlinds, IconPackager, and much more.

Played with the beta some, had a hicup for me. This release seems to have corrected the problem.   

Folks, don't forget to go to the library and download more sounds. It just might give you some ideas for making your own sound package.    

Now here's where someone from Stardock comes along and tells us how to do it.

Seems to be missing one *MAJOR* feature...

BACKUP

I want to try it, but if i dont like the package, i dont want to have to go back and reset all the custom sounds i currently have set through control panel.

Odd Borg can't you save your current custom sounds through control panel? I would think you should be able to. If so, it you don't like what you find using Sound Packager you should be able to go back.

I keep getting a "SoundPackager has encountered a problem and needs to close" prompt. Uninstalled and reinstalled and it still happens. Any ideas?

I have a sound card installed. SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 And it "was" working at first.....but not since the updates.

WebGizmos this is what I had to do. If you had the beta installed, uninstalled it and what ever sound packages where downloaded. Reboot and reinstall as a clean install. I think it has something to do with where it loads and looks for the sound scheme packages. Give it a try.

Here's another point to remember, when downloading new sounds pay attention to where they are loaded in the computer. I use the WC browser to download, it will show you where it put the file once you download it. You will need that info when you open Sound Packager and load up your new sounds.

I already did that Phil....Uninstalled everything...rebooted...reinstalled...still got the errors. Did it again just to make sure. Generated a Smart Exception report and sent it to support. Ever since this new folder thing started because of Microsoft & Vista its just been a pain. I've got 2 different folders installed on here for SoundPackager....why?

WebGizmos I think one of the folders is for the sounds that come with the package and the other is for ones that you download, but don't quote me on that.   

Check this other post and look at my reply #4, is that what you are getting?
