Serious IconPackager problem on Vista

Default app settings messed up - cannot undo

Monday, October 22, 2007 by KenzieZero | Discussion: IconPackager

I've run into a serious problem when applying packages in IP (current version) on Vista (Hone Premium), it is screwing up my app preferences.

My start menu defaults have gotten messed up, I no longer get the second line of text for the internet and email items (should be IE and Outlook), see pic for what I mean...

When I go into the set associations option, I get the following problem with all the programs that could take the default (IE, firefox, outlook, live mail, windows mail, opera)

This happens any time I apply a package, and if I don't catch it in time with system restore, the only way I've been able to undo this is by a complete OS reinstall.

OK, with the IP update that just hit (3.20a[rc].033), does this include the fixes?

It seems to!
Though I am on Vista x64 (HOORAY FOR IP NOW WORKING ON IT!) it does seem to now be showing the text.

Similar problem under Windows XP and latest build of IconPackager.

Start menu links bug is still there with the latest build (3.20a[rc].033) on Vista Ultimate.

That update was only to arrange the program file placement for what is come this week with other updates for the final release. Have patience everyone... they are working on it. As soon as it is done there will be two other updates to the program. I believe that is what I heard. One more release candidate and if works well? The release with other goodies I'm sure of... So hang in there~!

DanntDPX, you will need to logoff and backon again for the fix to take place with the new version.

I know, I should be patient, but a month and a bit after the last build (which seemed to clear up the folder system attributes bug, but not the start menu one) we've heard nothing. Can we please have a progress update on what's going on? For me, this is a blocker, stopping me from using IP until it gets fixed... which is a shame.

Still not working for me either might I add, deleting those reg keys fixed the problem though. (using latest beta version)
Everytime an ip theme is applied this problem returns.

Sorry for bumping, but I thought I'd let you guys know that I reformatted to x64, installed the IP beta and applied the Magic icons, oddly enough its working properly now...

I have this same problem, but I those keys aren't in my registry. Here's what I mean:

When I click on one of them, I get this message:

I already messed around with the program defaults and such, and no luck. I even uninstalled IP and it still didn't fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem, and reinstalling my internet browser and email client did not work.  Switching default clients makes the links work for the new defaults, but resetting the defaults back brings back the problem.
