Skin Studio

With Window Blinds 6

Tuesday, October 9, 2007 by OzGirl | Discussion: WindowBlinds

When I browse the skins in Window Blinds 6 and click to edit a particular skin, it doesn't open the Skin Studio instead it opens up the Stardock site for a purchase. I have renewed my upgrade. I have downloaded it all through Stardock Central. So I don't understand why this is happening. I can edit or create a skin by clicking on the Skin Studio Icon. The W.B. is the Beta version. Should I have an earlier version installed with it also? Another thing is that the products get installed, this time around, in a lot of places. The All Users folder, mine.... is there a way to have it just in one place?

I tried doing what you said and it works fine (Opening in SkinStudio, from WB). Try un-installing and re-installing. other than that I can't help, No about the wb stuff I tried rearranging all the wb files and nothing work until I put everything back. This is how the WB6 was written, a pain if ya ask me but your stuck with it (WB anyway).

All u have to do is apply a skin, Open SKS and choose edit current WB skin. Assuming it's going to be edited your going to have to apply it anyway.

If you are using SKS6, if you click edit from within Windowblinds 6 it will not open into SKS6. Like it did with SKS5. You have to manually open SKS6 first and then open the theme you want to edit from there.

Sorry I didn't think about it not working with SKS6, I'm still using SKS5 to finish my skin with. This doesn't really surprize me to much   after seeing what WB6 did in moving it's files around

Well this is what I mean, why make an option from within the WB skin browser "Edit in Skin Studio"if it's not going to work. That option should have been left out until they work on it a bit more. It's annoying because I haven't used any of the older versions for a while and I was still used to the way they run. So I forget and wham I hit Edit in Skin Studio, it takes me directly to Stardock Central to purchase the damn thing. I really hate it. But I love the way they have it working as an application of WB Skins. I love the look. The only other thing is they should not have the stuff all over the computer files are everywhere. The computers are ours and we should decide where things should go.
Worse of all you don't even know where they all go until you bump in to a Stardock Folder in one would be the Theme Manager and Window Blinds in another separate one the XP Cursors. It really is stupid.
Thank you all for replying I appreciate it as I can see some of us have the same issues regarding all this.

Thank you again.

I just want to ask, is there a way to download WB 5 as it doesn't show in Stardock Central as an option? It did a few days ago.

Ozgirl, Wb5 didn't show for me, it did show for me after uninstalling WB6 and a reboot. It might do the same for you.

Thank you Night Train, just wondering where to download at Stardock net? The trial version?

The reason it does not open SKS6 yet is because SKS6 is not setup to handle this.

Once it is it will open up when you click that link.  Right now if you have SKS5 it will open that instead as that is associated with .UIS files.

Please remember SKS6 is a beta product.

Thank you Neil. I appreciate your time for replying. I just thought that I was not registered as it kept opening the Stardock Site.

Thank you again.
