Defrag Tools

I have been using Norton Systemworks for years to keep my PC clean and tidy but recently I noticed that the file defrag and optimization tool was not doing as good a job as I expected. Tried the Windows tool that comes with XP and that was no better so I went in search of something different and visted quite a few sites to see what other users were using and what they recommended. One of the most popular tools appeared to be PerfectDisk. I downloaded the free trial and I must say that I am very impressed. WWW Link

well hey Leo...there will be two subscriptions to TuneUp Utilities 2007 as after having installed it in a trial Thanksgiving at my Mother's + now myself, having had time to play w it on my wireless lap at my own home, I find it truly is very thorough + packed with repair apps that make a big time difference for stability, speed + overall efficient functionality;it adjusted Internet Connections for a faster, more resilent speed, cleaned up, repaired, defragged + optimized the registry, totally removed any shadow installations files that had been previously removed + were missed by CCleaner + PConPoint;it also automatically adjusts the RAM but I also had to keep RAM Idle LE to further tweak + stabilize...very intuitive interface + also has a quick fix link for maintaining corrective + ongoing registry changes;overall, well worth the subscription as it truly is effective for maintaining a PC in tip top form in the long term...again, thx for the referral..a definite + to anyone who wants trouble free, efficient + optimum performance with their personal computer

I did a little more digging and TuneUp Utilities does give the info .exe
just on one of the 15 them does not give info.

I use Diskeeper Pro 2007 for both automatic and manual defrag of my drives. Great defragger..consumes barely any resources and defrags the drives nicely and quickly. It also has boot-time defrag and the option to resize the master file table. Try out the free trial versions at the diskeeper site to see if it suits your requirements; I'd suggest the Pro version rather than the Home (basic) or ProPremier (not cheap!).

Lesvind, that's a good recommnedation as it seems - from my research - that people who know far more about computers than I do either use Diskeeper or PerfectDisk. Fuzzy, MST certainly seems to have a 'following' too.
When it comes to 'Utilities' - my research around the net and looking what the 'pros' use, seems to point to the program that Gary mentioned earlier in the thread - JV16 Power Tools 2007 and also TuneUp..........
