Persnickety

My Desktop Screenshot

Saturday, September 8, 2007 by PuterDudeJim | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Hello all! Stardock is just way too persnickety about things, so you can find my stuff at deviant art, or skinning.net. The screenshot of my desktop (On my personal site http://puterdudejim.wincustomize.com/) was turned down saying that I needed to tone down my wall. I see that as censorship. I see nothing wrong with my wall. It goes well with the wba and my widget. They have been terribly slow about moderating any of my themes, i feel they are picking on me for some reason. Anyway, I will probably just do stuff for my own use in the future, stardock's attitude is stifling the hopes of us beginners of becoming good at skinning.

Hey bud, I think what they mean is this, screenshots should have enough stuff covering portions of the wallpaper so that the screenshot can't be used as a wallpaper. The shot you are referencing has some stuff on it but the main part of the wallpaper is still clearly visible. I don't think they are really picking on you...I just think you need to break up the shot a bit with some more things. My two cents.

That's tin foil hat thinking dude ... way too many people here for 'them' to do that. Just do what you do and don't worry about it.

No problem in putting your stuff wherever you want ... but this place is a good choice.

i agree with messiah. your wall isn't offensive. it just needs to have more windows to cover up the majority of it or at least enough of it so somebody can't take your screenie and rip the wall from it.

Why do I think it might have something to do with the demonic looking character being burned on 80% of the screen?   regardless, it's ur choice to place your images where you please.

They have been terribly slow about moderating any of my themes,

It's not that we have been slow, but more of the fact that not all of us Mods have dual monitors to test your themes out.  So it would naturally take a little longer for the moderation process. Plain and simple. I don't believe anyone is picking on you at all. As far as your screenshot, IMHO, the wall needed to be more obscured to be presented as a screenshot.

Advice taken. I also would mention that future uploads will be 1440x900. I no longer use two monitors. Thanks for the input. I guess I just get a little impatient at times. Sorry. I am known as being a little obsessive/compulsive...ask my wife...lol.

It didn't say ...tone down.....it said....obscure the wallpaper some.  Thats because, like messiah1 said, so the wallpaper can't be ripped from the screenshot.  And thanks, but Skinning.net doesn't have a SS section.  By the way, I sent you the reason for the exile of the S.

I am sorry, it never occured to me that someone might rip the wallpaper.    I guess thats why we have moderators who know these things. Very sorry for going off...lol.
