Wired News posted this article yesterday, seems there just might be a change happening here that people may not be aware of. Is this the crack in the MS fountain that might start the wall coming down? 
Hewlett-Packard Brings Linux To Select Desktops
The new machines will use AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processors and come equipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop, which features OpenOffice, Firefox and Evolution (e-mail) pre-installed.
Here's something to think about. Acer just acquired Gateway, which acquired E-Machine awhile back. The word on the street is Acer is also looking at HP. Could we see Linux on models of all those brands in the near future? Throw in Dell and we could call this a real change in the OS landscape. Makes you start thining, well atleast a little.

Zubaz, that is one way of looking at it.
You could also assume (I know, bad word) that if more computers start selling with Linux installed the support structure would follow very quickly. I think this is something the consumers/customers/buyers (take your pick) are going to be the controlling factor in.
You just have to love the thought of competition to win over consumers. Well atleat I do.

I'm not a Linux user, I still have Windows XP Home loaded and probably won't change unless or untill I need to get a new computer.
I Googled Linux and the one problem I can see in it gaining any ground as an OS alternative is the fact there are currently several different versions or variations out there. I assume, all of them trying to pull customers away from Windows. Dell has picked Ubuntu and now HP is going with Red Hat.
So the question to all you Linux folks, is this good? Is there a crowd favorite out there or do you see it as not much of a problem?

Options are good though an d I hope it takes off. I for one, would not want to be HPs support desk when those calls start coming in.
