Leopard-like Stacks

Thursday, August 30, 2007 by dar4121 | Discussion: Docks

It seems to me that someone who knows how to create docklets for ObjectDock could create a docklet that resembles Leopard's stacks.  I personally don't have a clue about how to develop docklets, but looking at the weather docklet with its 5 day flyout, it would seem to me that it would be not to dificult to modify it into a variable application launcher flyout that was customizable.  I may be wrong about that though.  I have never tried to create a docklet or even played with the SDK.  Please correct me if my thoughts are way off base.

i personally like the Fly-Out a lot more than the stacks.

Fly out is a lot more customizable and more versitile. And i actually think its cooler looking

Have you looked at the Apple video demo of the stacks? IMHO they leave the flyouts for dead.

The biggest appeal of the stacks for me is that you can just drag a group of items from a folder to teh dock & the stack of those items is created automatically.

If/when OD+ supports DesktopX widgets there may be a chance that something like this could be created...
