I have had upload problems for about a week, as well as logging in and downloading any skins ( the d/loads keep stopping and starting, then timing out )

Took 5 hours to upload 2 files Saturday..logon - logout - clean cookies. log back in..

File uploads and freezes between 2% and 33%

Finally went through - but progress bar never showed any progress animation at all.

We made some changes yesterday that caused some problems.  We've corrected things this morning and the uploads should be working again.  Give them a try and let us know if you are still seeing problems.

I started uploading " Citrium Widget Pack " at 5 pm - upload wouldnt start or froze at 51% ....finally got file to upload at 7 30 pm .

2 1/2 hours of constant retrying, logging in an out and cleaning cooking.
For me...this is 2 weeks now..I have never had this much trouble uploading a file.

My pms arent working correctly - I do not get any new notification across top of forum when I get a new pm anymore. Also I can only see the incomming pm's - when I try to move the slider to view the outgoing pms the slider will not move.

Every page hangs 2 to 3 minutes and its becoming a struggle to even come here lately.

While the upload problem seems a bit improved I'm still having a lot of pages hanging for minutes not seconds.

I have purchased many times from Stardock Store and its usually a fast process as my info is already filled in except for payment method etc.

I just purchased a Master Skin and it took 29 minutes to complete the transaction and most was due to the waiting for each page to completely load ...

29 minutes is a long time to make a purchase...

I hope your dailup is not per minute.

Do other pages take a while of just SD sites?

Im not having a problem with other sites. I thought maybe it was a FF problem but Ive tried accessing WC through Stardock Central and Im still getting the pages hanging for 2 - 3 minutes...The heading loads but the rest of page stays white...then when it loads there always seems to be one or 2 thumbnails that refuse to load. I constantly have to exit site and come back. The Store was never a problem when I bought through the WC Store but when I click on Master Skins to purchase..last 2 or 3 times it was the same..took a long time to complete transaction.

Are you still on dialup? I thought you were going to upgrade... Do you have ATT there?? $14.95 a month for dsl, maybe not there though. Find a way...you won't regret it.

Thats not the point though, I can afford it, I just can't install it myself.

I tested DA today...log in time 1 minute
Log in at WC 9 minutes + and still front page did not load completely.

At DA I uploaded 1.5 mb widget set, was done in under 5 minutes.
I also tried the d/load and I downloaded same widget pack and it was done in under 5 minutes.

When I try to download anything at WC lately the downloads won't start or they start / stop and it takes twice as long as it should.

This is not the ' normal' dial up behavior. Something isnt right. I shouldnt have to struggle to load a page. This all started after last site maintenance.

I find it hard to believe you can't install it yourself...you're a smart lady. But even if that's the case...get some geek in you're area to do it...from a local computer store or something.

It's really not that hard, and I'm sure it wouldn't cost much if you signed up with a dsl or cable provider that supplied the necessary hardware and software...they could get it up and running in no time.

A 4 or 5 mb upload at DA or WC takes 1 or 2 minutes...I don't notice much difference between the sites. I have cable..so it might be a bit more for dsl..but I really don't notice much difference between them.

I really think it would be worth it for you to upgrade...it might cost you a bit to get it going, but you will be tons happier.

Again...not the freaken point.
I am not the only one having site problems.
My friend " Marchesa " that joined the site a few weeks ago is experiencing the same problem logging in to site everytime she tries and she HAS DSL.
Just because you don't have the problem doesnt mean one doesnt exist for others.

Let's try and be civil towards other users who are being pretty friendly, even if they are offering alternative solutions to issues. Most of the time the only suggestions users can make are those which skirt around the issue, as they have no control over the immediate issue at hand. Please try and keep that in mind.

In the mean time, we've taken note of your report of store issues (even though its way off topic for this post). dean is still monitoring the uploads as well.

I think I was pretty civil considering everytime I mention that GOD forbid the site could be at fault that its always MY server or MY dial up connection.

I don't recall being told that DSL is required to belong to this site...

I don't think I need to be told that I can get DSL for $14.95

Why I dont have it is really no ones business.

Thank you for your usual response Andrew.

This thread is about upload issues.  Not store issues, not other issues.  If you are having issues with other aspects of the site/other Stardock sites please create a new thread.

We are aware of speed issues with the site and are working to rectify them.

This thread is about upload issues.

Uploaded files this am between 7 and 8 30 am est with no problem. At 9 am I had one more file to upload..oddly , it was the smallest file ( 168 kbs ) that gave me the problem. I filled out the info and the progress bar showed no progress. Exited site and retried filling out info 3 times - same result. Before 4th try, I exited site , cleaned cookies and temps and relogged in. Filled out upload info, waited for progress dialog - after about 6 minutes + I received this message :

I then closed site and used the " Old " upload link Boss provided at beginning of thread and uploaded file in 1 minute.

Fairyy,

Here is the word on upload issues you are having with the new system:

The error you are experiencing has been reproduced by our programmers.  It appears that the error only happens when you (possibly even momentarily) lose your internet connection.  This could happen if you have a high latency even (where your ISP is still connected to you but not responding for a few seconds).

We are going to see if there is a way for us to allow for a timeout.

As you've discovered, the old page is a good workaround for the time being.
