Fairyy,

Here is the word on upload issues you are having with the new system:

The error you are experiencing has been reproduced by our programmers. It appears that the error only happens when you (possibly even momentarily) lose your internet connection. This could happen if you have a high latency even (where your ISP is still connected to you but not responding for a few seconds).

We are going to see if there is a way for us to allow for a timeout.

As you've discovered, the old page is a good workaround for the time being.

For now the old download page is fine - when you first started the new upload process , I had no problems at all....it was much faster even on dial up. But what ever is happening started about 3 weeks ago and it also affects me being able to download skins from the site. The downloads react the same way as uploads. The download stops 3 or 4 times and thats on just a small file of 84 kbs. I just sit and wait and the progress bars start up after a minute or 2 but its taking three times longer for me to d/load skins as well as the upload issue. These problems all began at the same time so I assume they are connected. Usually when my server disconnects a dialog box pops up and tells me and I hear it redialing and I never lose the connection or what Im doing....but I havent seen this happen either. When the upload issue occurs I noticed that task manager shows FF is reaching 100% CPU's.

For now, I will just wait and see if it clears up.

Thank you for your reply.

Fairyy,

One thing that you could try doing during a download or an upload is set a constant ping to a site like Google.

If you open a command prompt and type "ping www.google.com -t" then hit enter, it will continuously ping google until you tell it to stop (ctrl + C will cancel the ping).

If you receive any timeouts, this will indicate that your connection has dropped momentarily.  It is possible for your connection can drop without needing to re-connect to your isp (thus you will not get the dialog box and your modem will not need to re-dial).  Doing this will help you track down where the problem is.

As a note, we have not made any changes to our download system in months.

Thanks Dean - I'll try this and see what happens. I've been trying to track just when this started and it could be a combination of more than one event . FF did an update not long ago too and aol could be doing updates.

Thanks again.

Just a heads up ... still seems to be a problem with uploading (got the same error as others have reported almost immediately and pressing cancel on the applet would not kill it). Had to use the old upload page ... which works
