WindowBlinds 6 Preview Guide Now Available!

A status on what's new in WindowBlinds 6

Monday, August 13, 2007 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

The next-generation edition of the world's most popular desktop enhancement utility, WindowBlinds, now has an on-going, regularly updated, preview guide available for viewing.

WindowBlinds is a program that empowers users to completely customize their Windows experience.  WindowBlinds 6 has hundreds of new features including the ability to skin nearly every element of Windows Vista as well as blur-glass effects on Windows XP.

The screenshot shown here is actually Windows XP. Check out the blurring -- and Stardock Diamond on Windows XP is about as fast (or faster) than Aero running on Vista on the same hardware.

Only users with Object Desktop can download and try out the beta presently.

Check out the link below to get a sneak preview of what's happening.

With an apparent 'Release date' for the final version of WB6 in the link. When can we expect the beta to support 64bit OS's? (If it doesn't already, tho I haven't seen it updated anywhere)

I know a lot of people are harping on about the lack of 64bit compatibility with Stardock products. How about an update to the possible release schedule, it may placate some of the naysayers.

The community appears frustrated by a lack of recent updates, and it appears that most of the developers are busy trying to get things out as soon as possible (which is great!!!), hence less communication from them. Maybe some sort of PR person is needed to maintain a consistant presence (tho there is already a solid developer/artist presence on the forums etc) and be a sort of 'buffer' between the community and Stardock.

I add the request for 64 bit support. In the past, I didnt care about window blinds at all, but with the new Skin Studio i cant wait for x64 support!

Interestingly it works fine on an old laptop with a celeron 1.5 in it but it hangs up and crashes a dual core AMD machine, i shall try again with the next release

Is the term "frosted" copyrighted? When I first read the description "blur" I wondered what you were talking about. That effect looks just like frosted glass.

Frosted is fine but "blur" is the word most often used around here.  The image underneath is blurred.
