theme

Tuesday, August 7, 2007 by techman619 | Discussion: Skinning

anybody know where to get a theme. I'm gonna try to make one seeing how I haven't been able to find one, but since I'm not really skilled in skinstudio it'd be great if someone interested in it had found one. Thanks.

I'd be afraid the DEA would kick my door down at 2:00am and confiscate and burn my computer.

Besides,I don't have any papers large enough to roll my monitor up in.

So no ones stopping him from making his own Theme on weed.

Who gives a crap...but I doubt any skinner would waste 3 to 4 weeks making a theme thats is based on this subject. Most adults that smoke weed don't feel the need to decorate their computers with it and I certainly wouldnt want my teenager using such a Theme.
You asked and got your answer.

Come back in 20 years when you have kids at the age most of us do and see if you would still be asking for a drug based theme. I doubt it..

Try just growing up...

Nuff said Techman619, got your answer, no one is interested!

This is both an ethical and SUPREME legal issue, since when our government was formed, the purpose of the federal government was to address issues that were NOT already being addressed at the state level. The federal government was never to interfere in state's rights, but that is exactly what is going on when the DEA goes in and shuts down a medical marijuana dispensary in California. President Obama promised to address this issue while running for office. He claimed this should not be happening (it should NOT be happening, based on the education I received in high school about the way our government is SUPPOSE to work). Still, the DEA is shutting down dispensaries. Obama claims this is due to a carry-over of the Bush administration in the DEA.

The problem with this scenario is that this is not how the relationship between the federal and state governments actually works. As an example, FDA's regulations only apply to regulated products that enter interstate commerce. However, the way that you define interstate commerce may be as broad as saying that a cookie produced in Connecticut that contains chocolate chips manufactured in Rhode Island is a product of interstate commerce. Frequently, federal regulations preempt state regulations that address the same issue. I'm no expert on this particular area, but I suspect that federal drug laws preempt state laws allowing for the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes and the possession of small quantities.

Just ran across this on the web, and can't vouch for it's veracity (someone can be a good egg and try googling it), but:
The 8 Monkeys

(This is reportedly based on an actual experiment conducted in the U.K.)

Doc, I have a hard time believing that this would pass any animal use and care committee. It's difficult for me to conceive of any useful information that could be gleaned or additional hypotheses that could be generated on the basis of such an ethological experiment that would justify the suffering of the primates involved. I strongly suspect it is an internet urban legend.

Thank you for correcting my misunderstanding of state vs. federal law.  Apparently I was focusing on the cute guy in my government class rather than paying attention to the teacher when we were suppose to learn about the supremacy clause.

That aside, I just received this bulletin in my e-mail today:  http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle_blog/2009/feb/26/medical_marijuana_raids_are_offi

Medical Marijuana Raids are Officially Over
Attorney General Eric Holder in a press conference today declared that "what the President said during the campaign, you will be surprised to know, (background laughter) will be consistent with what we will be doing here in law enforcement. (more background laughter)."

I'm not going to celebrate by rolling a big fatty, but I am extremely pleased to know that my federal tax dollars will no longer be squandered on farcical raids of medical marijuana dispensaries in states where they are legal.

Then you probably had your priorities straight. . .

No argument here.

Bet they were just "monkeying" around. But I'll also bet it could have been performed...who know when....perhaps before those committees came into existence.

Anyway, it was also meant to lighten things up a little.

Ouch!

Doc, I understand what you were trying to do, and, for your efforts, a monkey joke culled from the Internets:

A guy walks into a bar with his pet monkey. He orders a drink and while he's enjoying it, the monkey jumps all around the place. The monkey grabs some olives off the bar and eats them. Then he grabs some sliced limes and eats them. Then he jumps onto the pool table, grabs one of the billiard balls, sticks it in his mouth, and to everyone's amazement, he somehow swallows it whole.
The bartender screams at the guy, "Did you see what that monkey did?"
The guy says, "No, what?"
"He just ate the cue ball off my pool table - whole!"
"Yeah, that doesn't surprise me," replies the guy. "He eats everything in sight. Sorry. I'll pay for everything."
The man finishes his drink, pays his bill, pays for the stuff the monkey ate and leaves.

Two weeks later, he's in the bar again, and his pet monkey is with him. He orders a drink and the monkey starts running around the bar again. While the man is finishing his drink, the monkey finds a maraschino cherry on the bar. He grabs it, sticks it up his butt, pulls it out and eats it.

The bartender, thoroughly disgusted, asks, "Did you see what that monkey of yours did now?"
"No... what?" replies the guy.
"Well, he stuck a maraschino cherry up his butt, pulled it out, and ate it!" says the bartender.
"Yeah, that doesn't surprise me," replies the guy. "He still eats everything in sight but ever since he swallowed that cue ball, he measures everything first"....

I've partnered with Jojo25 on this project, so I can't take full credit for it.  When it's a little more "baked"   I'll definitely send you a copy to beta test for us, Seth.  (I'll even put a little medical staff on the start button for ya, so you're professional reputation doesn't get tarnished).

Not after the way Tommy was made an example of...no way.  Somebody else is going to have to pick up that ball and run with it.  I'm out on the limb as far as I feel I can safely go.

I don't see how a huge smoke cloud could be made into a theme.... But it would be awesome

I was joking about the theme, but when I see topics involving dopers, they just come to mind lol

Tommy Chong.

Yeah, apparently that's what came to mind when (former) Attorney General John Ashcroft, and (former) U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan dreamed up "Operation Pipe Dreams" that entrapped Tommy Chong and sent him to a federal penitentiary for 9 months!  http://www.akatommychong.com/

They specifically directed their witch hunt on Tommy Chong because of the character he plays in his "Cheech and Chong" movies.
