Well and how?

So you have forget the skills i wish one day i'll get 1/10000000000000000000 of their skills and i have paid more than you said

they have worked hard to become masters and not only on their skins but also to help peoples, involved the community,.......

"Masters
These are the "elders" of the skinning community. People who have been around for awhile. Only a few people will be at this class. To be a Master, not only must the user be a significant contributor to the community, but instrumental to the day to day life of WinCustomize. A Master can do everything a Journeyman can do plus they can nominate and vote on users to be promoted. The honorific "Master" is placed in front of their name A master has to think of WinCustomize as their home skin website."

you missed the most important

Master skinners are masters for a reason. your theory is the same as walking into a local dojo as a white belt and saying 'i could be black too if someone payed for the belt"

........ya right.

I'm not even gonna waste my time typing the reasons behind master skinners, because you obviously dont even 'get it'

1) Skinner not skiner
2) if you paid $100 for what? WindowBlinds skins as an example can be created with free version of SkinStudio and applied with trial version of WB. No need to pay for anything.

Why not start by uploading one skin to the gallery or a link to some of your past work. Without seeing any of your work, no one is going to take you seriously.

Okay, someone please explain to me what's happening. Is the summer weather, crasy as it has been, with floods and heat and rains just getting to people. Are people not getting their meds!!

Taperman2, your profile shows your are of mature age, why not act it, that is if the profile is correct. I'm a very suspicious person, there have been way to many of these kind of posts showing up. Why would someone over the age of 70 even care whom is a Master Skinner?

The recent posts smacks of some person or persons way to just go for reactions here on the forums. Look I know the summer has slowed things down around in the forums and in people summiting skins, this would be an insane way to generated traffic.

I'm going to say something that I know that I will be sorry for, I sincerely hope these posts are not generated from within!!!

Just my thoughts.

You don't have 20 bucks to spring for OD? that's all you need to get started..... skinning costs more time than money!

as far as you are here you have a computer and internet so you are be able to learn how use softwares, you can use free soft like the GIMP, Paint,.... SKS and WB free, Cursor XP free, well i need to continue over the full page no i guess
Check out the Stardock products page and see how much free version there are. for the graphics the GIMP is equal in both way as Photoshop and there are also free 3D Softwares on the net.
As remind (i could be wrong) but i guess JJ Ying (who is a Master) use the free version of SKS and WB

you can have 1'000'000'000'000 $ on your bank account you will not to be a Master here as i said before "To be a Master, not only must the user be a significant contributor to the community, but instrumental to the day to day life of WinCustomize." that not means only make skins tapeman2 so far that means you need to become a master to be helpful in both way to the community (not mean Stardock but people)

And to finish NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE try everyday to improve yourself and your skills and you'll not become a master but a Man that you could respect

That sounds more like an excuse to me. From what others said...you haven't even made any skins, so why are you so concerned about becoming a master skinner? Quentin already said what is required to EARN Master status in reply #1. It's not about bribery or any such nonsense like that, it's about helping the community, contributing with skins and knowledge and so on.

If you were really serious about becoming a skinner and contributing to the community, you would find a way to earn that money to buy the programs. But as others said, there is a free version of SkinStudio available.

For those who didn't notice tapeman2 change the dollor amount in the original post from $100 to $150. What's up with that? Maybe he thinks we're all part of the upperclass and don't have to work for a living.

being poor aint an excuse. when i first started, i was skinning with TRIAL windowblinds, FREE version of skinstudio, and my free graphics program called serif...... and i STILL had the gaul to enter the last gui competition.....i didnt care! i love skinning, still do, so whats your beef?

you can get free stuff out there, why dont you use your iniative and search the internet?

tapeman2, the tone of your post makes you sound like a child. You were just in here the other day asking how you could post a skin for sale. Now this post. What did you intend to make your skin with if you weren't going to pay the money for a graphics program? The Master skinners aren't Masters because they paid the most money, they are Masters because they put in TONS of time making FREE skins for the community. They are rightfully promoted to Master after all of this work and are "allowed" to sell some stuff. Do some work, post it here, get better and better, post more stuff...maybe one day you could attain Master status also. But to answer your question about why does it cost so much...maybe you should ask Adobe why they put a $600 dollar price tag on their Photoshop Software, or ask the makers of PaintShop Pro why it costs so much. They drive the prices of the software, not the Skinners.

i bet i would be a master skiner if i paid $100 to make the skins

This sentence is utterly ridiculous.
