WC Poll: iPhone... Yes or No?
I'd get one if I had the money.

It's Monday, so time for yet another poll. Last week I asked everyone to give the site an overall grade for quality of service provided. It's been just almost 6 months since the new site went live and I wanted to get a feel for how everyone feels we've been doing since then. In general, everyone seems pretty happy with how things have been working. In total, 77% of you thought we were either doing "Good" or "Excellent" and only a handful of you actually gave us a failing grade. I'm really glad everyone has been so happy with the site this past half year and I hope we continue to meet and exceed your expectations.
Here's the breakdown in pretty picture form:

This week the poll is simple. Did you get an iPhone this weekend? With all the hype spinning around the product launch which kicked off this weekend, I was wondering if anyone here actually made the plunge and spent a month's salary on the latest wonder-gadget from the folks at Apple.
Results next week.

Amen to that. On the other hand, these days you're not really buying a phone; you're practically buying another computer!

If you make 5 to 6 hundred dollars a month it's time to get a second job
As for me I usually go out and get the latest gadget (3 RZARs and a SLVR) but I think I'm going to wait on this one.

It's an hysteria-fed fad, just like the iPod.
Anyone rushing out frantically to buy one probably needs a priority-reset button.
How long till the first mugged-for-iPhone reports?
iPod and its 'signature' white earphones.....didn't shout out 'STATUS SYMBOL'...it shouted instead 'MUG ME'...
I doubt I'll ever buy anything spelled with a lower case 'i'.
Maybe I'm just an iDiot ....

A friend of mine said the same thing. They don't call it a craze for nothing.

Zubaz looks toward Island Dog enviously and put on his running shoes.

Besides, it's a first gen product, never buy a first gen product

Anyway, my rants aside, to be honest I just don't need half the stuff the iphone has and it's missing half the stuff I'd want in a device like that. So I'm gonna wait for either v2 or maybe something better that'll come along. For now I'm satisfied with what I have.
What I don't understand is why did apple make that contract with AT&T? I mean am I really suppose to believe that AT&T gave apple enough money to cover all those users that would've bought the iphone if it were available from other providers for 5 years!?! 'Cause I don't see any other reason why apple would want to limit the iphone to one, apparently not very good, network.

I'll admit Apple's smart phone looks nice, but if it doesn't do what *I* want, why should I pay US$600?

Fashions/trends come and go, but I've always been a shorts/jeans and T-shirt type of bloke, so no amount of marketing gobbledegook/hype has a hope of transforming me into one of the 'in' crowd/mindless sheep.

There is alot of hype out there, mostly coming from Apple. This product seems to be one that the consumers really need to research before buying.
If I read the reviews right you have to sign a 5 year service contract with AT&T. How many of you with cell phones keep the some one for that long? The technology chages to quick and often to be tied down like that.
